Who is to blame for the past 5 years?

Our Constitution buffs? Our constitution states on the first page that when our own government becomes intrusive and overbearing basically the fem/dems and the macho republicans who want fem/dems or they become as one and
become oppressive, it's time to vote them out! Winning the war with the rich families that made their money using that government is the problem! A penny for your thoughts?

Twasn't helpful agreed. But I read a study a few years back that indicated that racism was more prevalent in the Midwest than the South. Makes sense, I mean there are way better opportunities for minorities in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas and Nashville than there are in Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Philly.

Not to continue the racism discussion but to make a point about where most the minorities reside. Most southern people treated their servants with respect and treated them as part of the family. The ones who ran to the north were actually treated worse than those in the south. If you enjoy history the way it really was and not what propaganda the liberal media want you to here and believe then you should read the book; Jack Hinsons One Man War by the author Col. Tom C. Mckinney. It's a very good book. Alot of middle and west Tennessee history. It also explains that east Tennessee was predominantly union which would explain why most vote republican still to this day.

Good point but Regan in the 80's led a movement that flipped most long time blue dog dems to the GOP. Now the dems are mostly liberal activists, union members, young women still buying their college professors bull and minorities. I'm hoping we can get the minorities to realize that they are being used and taken for granted by the dems. New SC Senator will help. Rubio/Ryan or Ryan/Rubio in 16!

Back to Foosball: Fulmer started losing it when Ricth began to out recruit him in Geogia, then Spurrier started taking away his SC top talent. As Beamer built up his brand, we lost out in Virginas. And Arky started winning in West TN, bama got off probation and LSU started keeping their best at home. Yup, comes down to recruiting which is main reason I wanted Strong over Jones but I like CBJ and his passion, so I'm optimistic going forward...even if we get screwed again on the schedule.

Fulmer is mostly to blame. For those who blame the AD, Fulmer was more powerful than his boss up until the time the record began to reflect the decline that started in 2000. There are several reasons for the decline.... but they ALL lead right back to Fulmer's failure to lead the program.

It started when Fulmer tried to implement the spread offense with the memorable Clawfence without the players being able to understand it or even run it. Instead of phasing the concept in, he tried to make it go from day 1 and it flopped. Our recruiting base went to bammer, End of Story!! Why do I think that when we fired Fulmer for trying to beat Florida at their own game and hired the next two up and coming morons who were the next comings, we come up with Butch Jones and Clawfence!

Dooley wasn't really an up and comer

I am sure you would not mind being owned as long as your master treated you nice.
As to East Tennessee you are correct. My two great great, great uncles were hung in Cocke county by the Rebel army because they refused join and instead joined the Union army. The graves are in Ravens Branch community the oak tree also still stands to this day.

I'll take do nothings over dumocrats who want to grow the government and spend our taxdollars on useless stuff like NPR, Amtrak, and acorn. And I work for the government, so believe me, when I say it is too big I mean it cuz I benefit from more job opportunities that a bigger government brings, but the country loses from the overspending. Just go to USAJOBS.OPM and look at how many jobs are being advertised for Department of Agriculture SNAP (food stamp program)...it's really depressing what the socialist dems have done to our country.

If you feel that strongly maybe you should quit your government job, and open your own business and become a job creator.

The mix that was hammy/fulmer/boosters. Then u throw in the mix the negavols/Grudenites/fans that simply can't get over...."We R UT dang it!!!"...and don't understand that there is more to it than that.

Just imho that's all...

Your right on, hence the Moral Majority. Funny how republicans are all holier than thou now. (I respect views from both parties.)

I don't have any empirical evidence. But my guess is because the SEC cares more about football as a way of life. I have heard it referred to as a religion. If the argument is because of the percentage of minorities, then you would think that areas like east St. Louis and Detroit and Cleveland would produce the best recruiting areas.
I am not suggesting that black athletes are not important in all conferences and I am proud that UT's record in leading the way in integrating.
My concern is when you link any minority to stereotyping it is not helpful. Linking recruiting to picking cotton as the poster alluded to stereotyping.

You're a tool.

If Fulmer simply does his job of coaching and recruiting instead of becoming a politician more concerned about his legacy and job security, he is still coaching here.

Instead, he decided he was a CEO instead of a coach.

He decided to install Hamilton as AD.

He decided that 8 wins was enough at TN and his passing Neyland was more important than keeping up with the changing landscape of the SEC.

To a much lesser extent, you can blame David Cutcliffe. This program started sliding as soon as he left for Ole Miss. Fulmer's success and failure can be directly tied to whether he was on staff or not.

Of course, it was incumbent on Fulmer to hire a competent replacement, which he failed to do.
