Who will be Florida's new football coach if Muschamp gets fired after this season?

This is actually a pretty bad year for UF to be looking for a new coach. There aren't many good ones out there who are available.

I could see you guys plucking someone from the NFL, because only Mullen fits the bill in the college ranks at the moment.

IMO their biggest problem is they are starting down the death spiral. They've been through how many high profile OC's now? Plus they plucked the "it guy" in Muschamp and he failed. They need a guy whose been a head coach so there is no figuring it out coming in and they need an offensive minded one. Just my 2 cents.

If FU can't hired the big names that they want they could always hire Charlie Weis who will be out of a job at the end of the season.:eek:lol::lol:

If your Florida it's pretty obvious that your first call is Houston Nutt and if he turns you down then you call Ed Orgeron.

He won't be the coach at UF so it doesn't matter. It'll be 10 yrs or better before he gets another top 20 job, if ever. But no he's not a Saban disciple, he didn't get his start/philosophy from Saban like Muschamp, Smart and Dooley.

I would not bet on that if I were you.

Wish List:
Chip Kelly
Kevin Sumlin
Gus Malzahn

Realistic:
Dan Mullen
Gary Andersen
Ruffin McNeill

Foley set the program back for the rest of this decade by not firing Musclecramps last year....missed out on James Franklin.

I hear Phillip Fulmer is available. He is a National Champion Coach, a proven winner.

I'm not sure a P5 coach that's been in contention to win their conference will look at a lateral move like that. Going from the PAC-12 where he only has 3, maybe 4 teams to contend with every year to the SEC where it's any given Saturday?

Ruffin McNeil is the hotness right now. Depending on the coaching carousel, he'll be at the top of anyone's list. I could see Florida making a grab.

I actually really, really like Ruffin McNeil as a coach, but I wonder if his age and limited head coaching exp will exclude him from a big job like UF...
