I guess that's what it really comes down to, I won't buy in to the theory that a luxury BMW is equivalent to having healthcare.
I would love to put that up to a poll in the world...heck the US...heck Tennessee...heck my part of rural east Tennessee.
Sounds like you were born about a century too late.

You have health care. Everyone has health care.

no, I wouldn't be alive today (100 years ago) if not for the magic of modern medicine.

Granted I'm still in college so I'm sure the other Dems I'm around are younger, but despite Bernie's age he still has massive support. I think it could come down to Bernie/Biden in 2020.

Regardless, someone will need to step in and carry the torch of the left flank of the party. Think we need to see a consensus in party of single payer healthcare, tuition free college (for the record I'll be finished before this would go into effect), and massive tax reform to reverse current/Reagan Era changes.

Also, another vibe I get is that many of my younger Republican friends are absolutely done with Trump. Now, that doesn't mean they will vote Dem. But these are people who voted for him in 16 so that's good news at least.

Many Older Republicans seemingly will always support Trump but definitely enough instability for a strong Dem to win easily in 20.

Bernie should be laughed at Instead of taking seriously a real departure in our country from 25 years ago a known socialist should never have any support

Funny because the Democratic Party under Clinton is as gross to me as the Republicans. I'll take Bernie over dumb and dumber anyday.

Want to guess who the most popular politician is amongst all Americans? (Hint: It isn't even close among younger Americans)

I see it as America finally gaining some sense that society and government are better than a plutocracy driven free market.

As someone who will finish college before such a program would be implemented and will likely be in a upper middle class bracket...

That "free stuff" should be a turn off to me, wouldn't you think? Nope, I will gladly pay in even if I benefit less if it means reforming American society.

Good news, there are loads of charities and scholarship funds that will take your money. Even better, the US Treasury will cash any check you send them. Why must you wait for the goverment to mandate reform?

There is a social contract with society that requires dues likely from both I and you. Past that you do as you please and I will as well.

Could you please post a copy of the “social contract”? I don’t remember signing one.

I agree with you there is a social contract however it should be limited. People like Bernie wants that social contract to ever increase at some point the money is not available to fund. everything.. Most young people want someone else to fund their college,. The problem with college is the access to easy money for loans, simple supply and demand

What they don't see is how shortsighted that demand is. If your college is free, and my college is free, and everyone else’s college is free, what’s the value of a degree? If you think you can’t find a job now, wait until everyone around you has the same qualifications. Our country is dying for skilled laborers yet the end all be all has become getting a college education. The next step will be college is free but not everyone is graduating, so let’s dumb down college and further devalue education.

Actually this isn't true, when the TN Promise was implemented it didn't mean everyone went to college. There were increases sure but not hugely. You want to know where a lot of those increases came from? Technical degrees that we desperately need. I know a couple of friends who would not have gone otherwise and I am all for expanding that.

Easy access to loans or in other words I can accumulate a lot of debt easily. Great... Once again, if that was such a great idea why did most developed nation's move on from that and instead guarantee an education.

Pretty sure skilled and technical training would be covered as well under such a system, as I believe they already are in nations that have a similar system in place.

Funny that you think this would offend us "Snowflakes." Once again, I'm willing to pay if it means reforming society. I think you underestimate the swell that embodies that.

Also given that no one resorted to name calling before this it is just my observation that you sir might be the...

Speaking of free secondary education, I was watching a documentary on Cuba. A few year back, Cuba relaxed restrictions on its citizens being able to go into private business for themselves. As a result, doctors, engineers and other professionals have QUIT their jobs to become things like barbers. Perhaps it's not prudent for the taxpayer to pay for someone to become a doctor only for them to quit and become a barber.

The Department of Education is already a monolithic bureaucracy that sucks money from local schools to pay for an army of bureaucrats in Washington. What socialists like you advocate is to grow these bureaucracies at the expense of the common citizen.

The citizenry doesn't need government to tell it that education is important. The citizenry would be better off if government stayed entirely OUT of education. We should eliminate the DoED along with the college loan business and let's keep those dollars in the local school districts where they belong.

You can keep plugging socialist ideals and, as you said before, that may be the way the country goes. What you'll get is a DECREASED standard of living.
