Is Bill Landry still around? He'd be great....throw in some Heartland Series quickies during timeouts.

I like Roger. I don't mind the stutter. He's sincere and enthusiastic. His calls are brief and to the point.

I'd rather listen to Roger read War and Peace to me than listen to 5 minutes of Mickey Douchestone and Heatherholic Herringhaveanotherone.

He seems like a nice guy, but brief and to the point is not how most would describe him. Last Fall, he called in on a Wed., and after the 2 minute "hello" he asked if the Titans won the past Sunday! Seriously?

Jeff Jarnigan was great as the voice of the UT Band before he left town for a better job. He would be an ideal replacement for Bobby Denton imo.

How about Dearstone?

"Its ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, first and ahhhhhhhhhhhh ten for ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Tennessee at the ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh forty yard line"

Or, "please ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh pay these prices and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh please pay ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no more."

You want ideas? Ok, break the mold. Hire a woman. Problem is finding a woman with football savvy. Possible options: Woman coach or referee from the Women Football League. Test Sara Mitchell for the role.

Outside the lines ideas: Try a local high school football coach. Try a horse race announcer who is also an avid football fan. Try a retired or out of work assistant coach or referee (college or pro).

Honestly, I have nothing against competent women in sports, but oh my God please no. The crew calling MTSU's bowl game was a guy and a girl and calling it unlistenable would be far too kind. Even the girls I know were complaining about it.

As much as I would love to hear that voice of John Ward I don't think it would be reasonable to think he would make a return. I don't know how I would feel about Bob Kesling. Mike Keith would be great, but why leave the NFL?

Welcome to the board. Post more often. :hi:

He wouldn't have to leave the NFL. Gene Deckerhoff does radio for both the Bucs and the Seminoles. He didn't even miss the Bucs game when they played in London after announcing the Seminole game on Sat.
