Who will emerge as UT's quarterback?

As long as we have a solid running attack with our defense, we can have a good year. But if we can't get our line in shape, then we need to look toward the future at QB.

I hate to dog a college kid, but that guy really got what he deserved after he transferred. Just when he was established as the starter at Ga Tech, George O'Leary left and they switched to more of an option style offense that Suggs had no prayer of being able to run. He spent all of last season guarding the Gatorade cooler.

Funny that the updates seem to have stopped right about when he lost his starting job. I don't see a "Tales of a Clipboard Holder" blog anwhere in there.

AJ Suggs Official Website

I wonder how long it took AJ to put that together? [/quote]
the website was already together the day he announced he was transferring from UT. from what i heard, he already knew his intentions prior to the Kentucky game and waited until after the bowl game to make his official announcement.

I remember vividly. The day after the season was over, his picture was on the website wearing a Tech shirt.

Will you look at that, no one even voted for Ainge and Schaeffer being co-number one's. What are the odds?

I never did vote on this thing, but my vote would have been Ange and Schaeffer. :D

Surrrrrrrrrrrrre.

Got any money ya wanna send me??

:eek:lol:

I am simply elated over Fulmer making this decision about naming the two freshmen quarterbacks co-number 1's!!!! It is very much out of character for him, though, and it does make me wonder a bit if a few of the powers that be which lord over him have insinuated that this season had better not be "business as usual."

Anyway, freshman with great talent need to get out on the field early to ensure reaching maximum potential before ending their collegiate careers. Fulmer's reluctance to put them in the thick of things early has always frustrated the heck out of me, and have also, I believe, shaken the confidence of some very good recruits. Also, I think it has hampered our recruiting at times when it came to attracting some of the exceptionally great recruits. Those guys expect to get into the thick of things right away.

Regardless of our record this season, watching the two freshmen develop will be great fun. I just hope that one of them will rise to the top and be the true starter. I have never liked a two quarterback system.

Has anyone gotten any inside info on which of the two the other players on the team prefers to have calling the signals?

Finally, think about this. Crompton, who is already more highly touted than Ainge or Shaeffer ever were, will be joining the team next year. I am willing to bet the farm that whichever of the two that gets the least playing and starting time this year will be moving on after this season. It very well could get nasty with that much young and exceptional talent at the quarterback position if one of them doesn't head elsewhere. That is a good problem to have so long as it doesn't cause divisiveness among the team.

Anyone else got any thoughts or predictions on this?? I want to hear anything on your minds. As I said, Fulmer has really blown me away with this move, and I can't help but wonder if there is more to it than evaluating the talent. Is Fulmer punishing Leak because his brother acted so foolish and vindictive????

I think all of the conspiracy theories are a bunch of crap. CPF is going to line up whoever gives us the best chance to win - period. There's just too much pressure on him to win for him to do otherwise.

I seriously doubt that. He has openly stated his admiration and respect for C.J. on more than one occasion, and moving C.J. to safety wasn't something he HAD to do.
I'll be honest, I still feel bad that C.J didn't get his shot, mostly because he seems to be such a good guy. But it has never entered my mind that CPF was "punishing" him.

CJ was not doing the job at the GA game in 2002, and he can't do it now. As I have said before, CJ was beat out by a playmaker 2 years ago, who ended up as a receiver/DB. This time the talent oushined him again. He was a playmaker at Wake Forest, not FSU, not even NC State, but Wake Forest. His knee injury has messed him up mentally, and he is afraid to go out and be the man he once was. I feel for CJ, I really do, but to say he got bumped because of his brother, would be irresponsible.
