Who will go higher in the draft Troy Smith or Brady Quinn??

21 points ought to be enough to win with a competent defense. Quinn may not have looked stellar, but he wasn't responsible for giving up forty-freakin'-seven points.

I think he was responsible for at least 14 of Michigan's points on 2 INT returns for TD's.

There was only one pick-six.

I'm not gonna sit here and say Quinn is the most clutch player ever, but for the most part he has been money.

He's a better prototypical QB, but Smith has the VY kinda command about him. Plus he has better mechanics than VY also. Smith will be a good backup prolly, unless he gets a shot in Buffalo or something.

Smith is definitley a leader, but what has yet to be seen is how much of it is him and how much of it is the talent around him...

The difference was Vince Young was clearly the catalyst for the Longhorns in '05. They wouldn't have sniffed a Big XII title without him.

Agreed. I think however that without Smith the Buckeyes don't sniff the NC game and it watching Michigan from the Rose Bowl.

Just one:

"they start in the NFL i believe thats GREAT."

Start is present tense.

Haha... "They start in the NFL" would obviously include anyone who has ever started in the NFL. That's beside the point, anyways. Does this mean Alex Smith is a great QB? He PRESENTLY starts in the NFL. And I'll answer that question... no, Alex Smith is not a great QB.

Yes, making it to the NFL and starting is a great accomplishment. I agree with that. But while there are some MAC QBs that have accomplished this, that doesn't make them great QBs. Anyone who argues this is ignorant.

they start in the NFL i believe thats GREAT. What team do you start for?
Well, if that is your qualification of greatness, then Pennington, Leftwich, Frye, and Batch are definitely on the bottom of that totem pole.

Like I said earlier though, the bar has definitely lowered. Maybe they should just induct everyone who starts in the NFL into the Hall of Fame. That way no one would have to actually prove their worth in professional football.

Just to add a little more to that, I don't see any of those QBs even being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, let alone Canton.

see the 2006 edition of the Longhorns as evidence.

quinn is the better prototypical NFL qb...Smith though...verdict still out. but i'm not convinced he'll be all that great in the NFL either.

Smith i think is fairly versatile, has a pretty good arm...

i think they'll both be fine, but neither truly standing out at the next level.

Are you serious? With McCoy as QB, the 2006 Longhorns were definitely not as dominant in the Big XII as the 2005 team. However, if McCoy stays healthy, then Texas wins the Big XII South and might have beaten Nebraska again to win the Big XII.

I would say that isn't such a huge dropoff, considering McCoy is a true freshman.

yes. TX, with or w/out McCoy isn't supposed to lose to KSU. they barely beat Neb with him the first time.

and yeah, A&M beat him silly, but after all those top 5 recruiting classes CMB has been drumming up down in Ausitn, are you going to tell me that TX isn't a heavy favorite over an A&M team that had big time question marks about it's coach entering this season?????

so, yeah, i'm serious. VY made that much of a difference.

I never said anyone is or isn't great. Anyone who argues otherwise is ignorant.
Also, you are flat out wrong about the definition of the word start.

I never defined the word "start." This arguement is about "great" MAC QBs. Get a clue.

Sometimes greatness is about stats, its about what you accomplish with your life. And for them QBs to make it from the "MAC" to starting in the NFL is GREAT, oh you also forgot about gradkowski for the BUCS, so how many QBs from the mac have we named that Currently start in the NFL

With Oklahoma losing what it did, Texas should have expected to sleepwalk to a Big XII title. With the Big XII North being as weak as it's been, the championship game would have been a mere formality.

Not winning the division this year is a monumental dissappointment for the Horns this year.

This is fun. Someone said, "They start in the NFL." That excludes AJ Feeley, because he doesn't start in the NFL. Joe Montana doesn't say, "I start in the NFL." He says, "I started in the NFL." As for MAC QBs, you can see that I did address them in the previous post, although for some reason you chose to act as if I didn't understand that the thread concerns MAC QBs. I'm starting to see a pattern of illogical behavior.
