3- Do Democrats really appreciate good humor? It seems not. Let’s take Chapelle for example. This is a guy who i always assumed was a Democrat. Not that it mattered to me, his comedy is gold. The Chapelle Show was must watch TV. The man was funny and knew how to poke fun at human nature. I don’t recall conservatives trying to shut him up.
This is a really strange thread. I’ll post some pics related thoughts below as to why.
1- Comedy is in the eye of the beholder.
For example, I haven’t found SNL funny for well over a decade. Maybe more. And I think Jim Carrey is horrible actor that ruins just about every movie he touches. Clearly, millions of other people think different.
2- An effective comedian should be able to poke fun at human nature and current events. It should be agnostic as to whose political team might get their feelings hurt. I’ve never seen Gutfeld, but I’m guessing i wouldn’t find his material all that funny if all he does is make fun of Democrats. Hopefully he’s also taking shots at that guy from New York. And MTG.

Anyway, this is a pretty stupid thread. The only thing that really matters is how Gutfeld’s numbers stack up in that time slot. If the numbers are high enough, he’s funny enough to do what he does. Otherwise, he’ll go the way of Al Franken.
so the french actor jessie smollet is a sacred cow of the leftist cult?

Historically, most comedians have been liberal because a pretty big component of humor, especially political or cultural humor, is poking fun at the established order. They make fun or highlight the perceived absurdity of political norms, cultural norms, etc. By definition, conservatives are less likely to do that. They support the political and cultural norms, and view it as an attack on something they hold to be sacred.
However, a big reason why a lot of people find conservatives poking fun at wokeism to be funny is that, over time, wokeism has become something of an establishment opinion. Especially in the corporate world and media writ large (except conservative media). Liberals don't like it because they perceive it as an attack on something they hold to be sacred.
The honest truth is that anymore there are very few comedians that are funny. Whether it be that they are afraid of being canceled or their whole act is nothing but political bashing they're just not funny.
your post implied "conservatives" think Chappelle is funny because he pokes satire at dumb arse leftists like smollette and kamala harris for calling it a "modern day lynching" .... but would not he he poked fun at God and religion.I'm not understanding the question, but I assume it's directed at me since you said "sacred cow"
I didn't say anything about JS.
I didn't say the left doesn't have sacred cows. I implied both sides do.
Are you saying the left tried to cancel comics who made fun of JS? WTF are you talking about?

I dont GAF what the lefitst cult cancels.
There are basically no show writers and very few comedians who are conservative. When I said "conservatives poking fun at wokeism" I meant just anybody with conservative political opinions, not necessarily comics and show writers. But it's not really the conservatives (if we're talking comics and show writers), it's typically people who are otherwise moderate or liberal.
Rogan holds socialist principles. He voted for Bernie. Chappelle's not voting for a Republican.
LOL.
Most comedians aren't worth an hour of my time in any era, and the ones today are not less funny than past decades. I promise you I can find better specials to watch from 2023 than 1993 (in part because it's dated).
It's the truth.
I'm guessing that you don't have much of a sense of humor and are easily offended.
I prefer comedians keep the political commentary to a minimum and just be funny. The funniest skit I ever saw in person was George Lopez on a cruise ship 10-15 years ago, he had the whole audience crying, from there probably Ron White was the next funniest. We used to go to Zanies in Nashville fairly regularly so we've seen a lot of people, quality really started to die off so we stopped going.
I'm not. I just don't think Andrew Dice Clay is funny. I would guess that the two most popular comics among conservatives are Shane Gillis (a guy who has been canceled) and Nate Bargatze, and I love both of them.
I think Chappelle is funny. I think Louis CK is funny. I think George Carlin is funny.
Bargatze is very, very talented. I see why a conservative might be more entertained by him, but there's also nothing that would turn him off to a liberal. I would describe his style of comedy (it's really more storytelling) as a very, very cleaned up Ron White. He just makes hilarious observations about things, and is never crude or dirty (not that those things bother me, but it is more difficult to be funny if you don't use them).I'm not. Never heard of either of those guys.
