Players are being recruited behind the scenes. You worded it perfectly man. Eventually mid tier teams will fall off due to lack of funds and College football will be dead.

Honestly did not see this attrition coming....never surprised by anything UT, but extremely disappointed and somewhat taken back .. regardless of NIL....RB and WR....odd

because the position coach is bad at his job and the offense isn't generating opportunities for receivers.

Interesting Webb is same guy that coached Hyatt and Tillman. I don’t think it’s the position coach as much as it’s the system. Other teams have adjusted and our sustem runs very basic routes with the WR spread out very wide. Putting 3 safeties with CB taking away the inside routes, and very few pre-snap shifts and motion, and it’s hard to get separation. Then the faking injuries have taken away the hurry up. Defenses give us the run, which is why we had Wright and Sampson putting up great numbers.

Alot of the passing woes on defense this year is on that LB core. McCoy is good, Gibson will be good aswell.

Hookers O Line was markedly better than the last two seasons. We forget that D Wright and our guard had the right side fully locked down.

I think we just have to replace Pope at this point. There has to be a reason that all but 1 receiver has entered the portal. I certainly don't buy players don't like Nico.

We got Smith, Jackson, and Dobson coming in. Mix them with Staley and Matthews makes a good core of young capable receivers.

It is VOLS that discount that potential that frustrate me. Bet our portal actions are prioritized by CJH’s comfort level. Bet some talented guys are available AFTER spring when our EE newbies and current underclassmen define need or no need after spring with our SO QB and young backups.

The hardest part of being in the position of a fan is not knowing what did or didn’t happen in the locker room, practice field etc. Maybe these guys didn’t put the work in, they were toxic and so on. They could all be regrettable losses and great dudes; who knows.

Bottom line it’s a position of need and we didn’t see the desired level of production out of the WR room. Time to find the next batch and move on.

We really need some revised parameters around the NIL deals or just get it over with and put a CBA in place. It’s where it’s going anyway. Welcome to the NFLs minor leagues.

I really like Concepcion and honestly I wouldn’t mind Heupel telling MM to stick it and getting KC and maybe Burke from Florida just to teach some of the kids a lesson with playing these games. I’m not sure he has the same potential as MM, but thus far in Heupel I trust.
