Why exactly didn't Dooley work out?

He seemed to be respected until he came to ut. Was it a bad match? Did he not have the support? Or did he just plain suck a@#?

I read an article about some former players at Louisana Tech and they were talking well of Sonny D. , their new coach, and they were glad that Dooley had left. So, I don't think he was all that well respected....

Let me count the reasons:
1. Alienated the football alum
2. Could not recruit
3. Could not keep coaches because he was a know it all
4. The team did not respect him
5. No track record
6. Thought bathing was more important than winning
7. Did not instill confidence with either the team or recruit
and that is just the topping.

Dooley could recruit!
(1) Hunter was NOT coming to U.T., until Kiffin left and Dooley came.

(2) Da Rick was not coming to U.T., until Dooley came. (3) Tiny was not coming to U.T. nor was Stone, until Dooley came.

Have you noticed that since Dooley came to U.T., we have had many more Georgia recruits come to U.T. Yes, Georgia was always a place that we got recruits but Dooley got more from there than we usually did.

If Georgia underachieves this season maybe they will hire the guy

they didn't walk,i believe Hart had a plan and we have seen how it has panned out so far,he backed into hiring CBJ,which could be a good thing, time will tell

and throw into the mix, that fans were screaming for him to be fired as soon as he was hired, had to hurt his recruiting

I agree here. It's amazing how everyone seems to blame that hire totally on Dooley, and it's very possible that Hart pushed it on him. People around here would never accept the fact that they hurt recruiting as its just a message board. Smh

He couldn't keep coordinators yet Chaney stayed and so did hinshaw. So obviously he could keep some. Amazes me how people think that every hire is a good fit too. Takes time to build that rapport, and then they still leave.

Imo the move to 3-4 was what he thought was best for the long run of the program. The guy knows what it takes to build a team, unlike others may think they know better, and took a chance. It flopped because he bet on the high scoring O to make up for the growing pains of on the D side. The O, mainly Bray, failed the team when it was put on his shoulders. Frankly cause he is a pompous azzz.

Finally the stupid azzz Grudenites. That was something that so many will not accept the fact that this negatively engulfed the program. Where people didn't see any positives. What should we expect from the Legion of the Miserable??

Going back to ur it's on Hart comments. I totally agree, and knew the guy was done when Hart wouldn't come out and defend his current coach. People are surprised and pissed at Dooley for quitting on the recruiting trail when his boss won't defend him. Not surprised. Heck Haden comes out defends Kiffin and all know he wants him gone. But he knows he needs to keep things in check before it hurts the program. Hart is on the clock now imo.

Dooley didn't work out for the same reason Butch Jones won't work out.

Dooley was a disastrous failed WAC coach from the get go. Butch at least has some winning records and conference championships to his name. I'm not saying Butch does or doesn't get it done here, but either way...apples and oranges.

Yeah, I can't figure it out either. I guess it's a life mystery that will go on and on forever.

i still wonder if Hart didn't push Sal and the 3-4 onto him,it seems Hart had a plan that back fired on his Bammer ass,I agree that he should have shown some support

Wilcox and Dooley would have caused a ruckus in the SEC,but we will never know,I hope CBJ can get the job done,it seems like he might, but it is hard to say right now

i agrew with this. even though i didn't like dd we could have won every game last year except bama because we were competitive. 9 wins was attainable for sure and we would have stability and momentum. they brought hart in to hire a new coach specifically. hope the plan works.
