That was the score on paper but anybody that watched the game saw it as a complete annihilation. That's why every Single sports media publication or outlet is talking about the fact that the score does not adequately reflect how bad Georgia really beat Tennessee. Georgia did nothing but manage the Clock the second half and everyone saw that because they didn't have to do anything else. They played Tennessee at their peak whereas Oregon has done nothing but improve every week. It will be interesting to see what happens if Oregon wins their division championship. Everyone knows that Georgia put on the brakes the second half just to run out the clock but if they wanted to score more they could have.
Well I don’t know about a setup. We did beat several ranked teams including LSU and Bama, so I think top 5 was earned. I just think Georgia is on another level right now unfortunately.Shouldn't have put us there. It was all a set up. So we could look bad and the media could go on and on about how much Vol football is joke.
It's easy to improve when you play your hard game first, then play bad teams for the next two months. In their 8 game winning streak Oregon played a 1AA team, an 8 loss team, 3 6 loss teams, a 5 loss team, a 4 loss team and UCLA.
Georgia would have scored 50 against us if they could have scored 50, it's not like they've held back on anyone this year or had any reason not to bury us. The monsoon made them not risk turning the ball over, which they already had twice in the game. At the end of the day it was 27-13, and we held them to their season low in yards by a large margin. Their back ups got significant time vs Oregon and they put up about 200 more yards against them. As bad as our game looked, it was waaaaaaaay better than Oregon played against them.
Everyone was clowning UGA until they actually won a NCG. SEC Shorts had a whole schtick about Georgia and "Hope". Nobody called them dominant.
They beat Auburn in the SECCG in 2017 but lost to Bama in the NCG.
They lost to Bama in the SECCG in 2018.
They lost to LSU in the SECCG in 2019.
They didn't even win the SEC-E in 2020.
They lost to Bama by 17 in the SECCG in 2021.
Tennessee will get clowned until we actually do it. When we beat Florida we'd hear about we won't beat LSU. When we beat LSU it's because neither Florida or LSU were good and we wouldn't beat Bama. When we beat Bama it was a fluke and we wouldn't beat Kentucky. It's been like this all season. Finally people took us seriously and we mentally laid a goosegg on the road against Georgia.
Back to the clowning. Also, Tennessee's fanbase is passionate but also extremely easy to troll and Coastal types love to rile up ignorant rednecks. How we've behaved in the national spotlight (throwing mustard, baseball team) might endear our own fans to our team but it just confirms and emboldens most coastal types that we're just dumb hillbillies. It will be like this until we actually win a SECCG or NCG.
Seems like the TN team from the past 8 weeks would have found a way to come back. In all of this turmoil, people often forget we did have a chance to cut into the lead and pull a few last minute heroics. But it would have meant to change tactics and making better adjustments. It could’ve been worse, but not 49-3 worse. We also had the ball w/ a chance to cut it to a 1 score game late in the 4th quarter. Yea their game was in Atlanta, but it wasn’t a true home game for UGA. We lost by 2 scores on the road to the # 1 team in the country.
Boo.. jk all parts of the state have their own cachet lol.. I was born in West, have family in West, grew up in Middle, went to college in East and lived there 10 years as an adult, now live back in Middle.. rabid fans throughout the state, so they are probably bashing all of us good thing is, we don’t care lolBy the way, someone in Illinois called me a hillbilly and he meant it as a term of endearment. Proud to have grown up in East Tennessee -- sorry ya'll but it is the BEST part of the state!
I think the team learned a lot this past weekend. Everyone from the coaches on down were soundly humbled. That’s okay. Stuff happens . This staff gives me faith that they will be better because of it. There are quite a few people saying how soundly we were beaten, and that it could’ve a lot worse. I’ve heard some personalities say that if they were Tennessee they would want that mulligan against UGA. Neuheisel, who is calling our game this weekend and has watched the game tape has said we should absolutely hope for a rematch because we left a lot on the field. I hope we get that chance.Seems like the TN team from the past 8 weeks would have found a way to come back.
