Why is Thompson boling arena.....

Because we don't have a coach anymore that went all out for the program's fans and atmosphere. Cuonzo is the direct opposite when it comes reaching out to the Bball's fan base. I haven't heard of anything big Cuonzo has done as far as events-wise to really catch fire for the his tenure here. This is not a "Bruce was God, and Cuonzo doesn't deserve a chance." But, if your gonna follow the guy who really put our program back on the map, you better work your arse off 200% to keep that fire.

Excellent post. :good!:

UTC, if i'm wrong on the players that were on the roster, I'll admit. If i'm wrong, I like seeing where I goofed up, so I can get it straight for next time.

And from what I can remember, we lost Tyler Smith and Jamont Gordon. We signed Ryan Childress and accepted Andre Patterson as a transfer from UCLA.

What I'm getting at is that Bruce was successful out of the gate because he coached who he was given. He had to "nut-up or shut-up" so to speak. I don't see the same competitiveness from Martin at all? Please don't bring up the Duke game because the only reason that game was close was because Austin Rivers kept shooting Duke out of a blowout and allowed us to get back in. Memphis is just another overrated team that plays 2 or 3 tough teams and then coast through the C-USA cupcakes.

Ok who were the players Bruce brought in in his first class and then what players were on the roster that he had to coach?

Oh, so you haven't the faintest clue? Color me shocked. Therefore, your criticism of Coach Martin will be taken with about as much seriousness as if my pet dog began being critical of him.

Honestly because Vol fans are pretty much some of the weakest fans around. Neyland hasn't been a tough place to play in almost a decade at least, and both Neyland and TBA are pretty dead unless we're winning.

so I assume you were there tonight screaming and cheering right?

I think coach Martin is doing it the way he should, & that is COACH basketball!!!! This team needed a coach & a mentor, & that is what they got!!!! The crowd will come around once they realize what is happening with this team. Four true freshmen (not rated high) & players who did not contribute with Pearl are playing some good ball. NO TEAM IN AMERICA wants to play these VOLS!!! Once our boys learn CM system & understands their role fully WATCH OUT!!!!!!!! Go Vols!!!!!!!!!:clapping::salute::dance2::rock:

Yeah, all the great coaches paint themselves up and say, "oh please stupid fans that don't really care about basketball, please come watch me play!!" Martin is really dropping the ball.

So, the fans who are blaming Coach Martin for not being exciting are willing to admit that Tennessee has a ****ty fanbase, right?

So if you got hired for a big job you thought was a one in a million chance, you wouldn't wanna do everything possible to let your co-workers or bosses know how much you are dedicated to your job? The whole "I'm very fortunate to have this chance" doesn't do anything for people these days. Bruce gave his all to revitalize this program when he TOOK THE JOB.

I will give you guys this: The fanbase is mixed on Martin just because of how Bruce went out and how he got treated by the NCAA.

Coach Martin's job is to win games. If he does that, he's done his job.

That is the absolute dumbest thing I have ever read. Dressing like a ****ing clown isn't "doing everything you can to show you are dedicated." You really ought to just leave the basketball forum permanently.

It shouldn't have anything to do with the coaches I bleed orange and if we were down 20 I would still be screaming for my team rather we suck or are the best team in the nation no excuse to have one of the biggest stadiums in both Football and Basketball and be one of the quietest!

Pearl got treated fairly. When you're a lowlife scum and get caught willfully violating rules, you get hammered for it. Period. Grow some brains and then try posting over here.

And I 100 percent agree agree agree agree with you on that. But, dont you think that there are other ways to get and catch fire for the program then winning? Yes. I do know that winning games is the best way to get people loving you, but I also think promoting the program can make your job easier then just going out and winning games and having the "I told ya I'd be a winner."

Pearl's success the first year said as much about Buzz Peterson's coaching ability as it did Pearl's.

Very few coaches have the marketing ability that Pearl does.

I wouldn't go that far he was a good coach and a very nice man that gave his all for us show a little respect for him.

So you think that he got the punishment he deserved for admitting his lie compared to Tressel saying a lie and sticking to it? I know that if you can do the crime, you deserve the punishment regardless of who you are. But, I do think that getting a stiff penalty for lying, then coming back and admitting it is hypocritical when you got a coach in Tressel who was gonna lie and keep to that story and get a slap on the wrist.

I truly hope you don't think Pearl admitted to that lie on his own, do you? He had no choice to own up to it after they had cold hard facts on the case.
