If today's performance is the best we can expect out of Cuonzo's Vols, then the crickets caught up in the cobwebs of our cavernous arena are soon going to outnumber the fans.

Our fans suck i been complaining about it for a decade or more. There were 2 possesions that the whole place was rocking after same ole crowd. I can barely talk from making noise. Why go there and stare at the court. I dont get. Let me guess some will say what do we have to cheer for, that is even more sad.. Go Vols!

Honestly to me, if Martin would take an approach of just going out and getting on fire with the students and other fans, he could have the same success. I pray that he does well and never wish bad for him. I just think that he could do some better PR for the program. I loved Bruce as coach, I loved Phil Fulmer as coach, and I love Pathead as coach. Those are my favorite three coaches and will always be. Do I show favortism to them? Yes. Does that mean I'm a homer and shut the door to anyone who follows them as coach? No. I just want this numb feeling for UT Athletics to go away. I wasn't fortunate to go to UTK, even though I wanted too so badly. I am just a fan who wants us back to where we belong.

Funny thing is I alway see a lot of posters bashing the fans and fan base here. And a lot of those people, I'm sure, aren't spending their time and money going to the games. :whistling:

AlumVol, I was not talking about last year and how Bruce's lack of promoting was the direct result of his games. I was simply comparing Bruce's first year to Cuonzo's in progress in the area of gaining support and making noise for our program. I never mentioned wins or losses. All I was mentioning was I see a complete 180 degrees change from Bruce to Cuonzo. I gave my thoughts based on the name of the thread: Why is TBA so quiet????

That's the problem. You're missing the entire point that it doesn't matter how a coach acts off the court, if you win, fans will come.

On an unrelated note, Thompson Boling Arena is a great venue in terms of how nice it is. Amazing facility, especially for us.

But if your gonna take over a big program, you should make sure you keep the fans coming out because the majority of the fan base is bitter about how the last coach left. Therefore, you should promote better before beating the likes of ULM, Chaminade, and the other cupcake.

Just because Martin isn't thumping his chest at every opportunity doesn't mean he's not "promoting" the program. Promotion of the program is the job of the athletic department. It's not like Martin is turning down interviews or speaking appearances. It's a non-issue.
