safety? pretty ironic IYAM.

might as well call that position danger. smh. that coach needs to explain his plan with this young man's career path.

More chances for injury. More fatigue, making him less effective at RB.

He wasn't going to play S in college or the NFL. What was the Beech coach thinking?

I'm glad he's in the dock till UT can get a hold of him...and that it's not a knee.

First of all, he was hurt while playing running back, so you have no valid point here.

Second, at least 80% of our current roster played both ways in high school, including our QB. So if you think Hurd was the only one, then you know nothing about high school football.

Is this why TN is not a traditional hotbed for HS football players?

to be wise you are saying some dumb stuff in this thread, look and see how many HS kids are playing both sides of the ball all over the country.

Thank you. This is why I asked the question, which I think is permitted around here.

Good thread man, legitimate questions for someone not fully understanding HS football.( no way on this earth I fully understand it)
I'm just assuming that you do not and in no way am I trying to be derogatory towards you. Kudos for the questions... you had to know what was coming!

Leonard Fournette, 5* RB, New Orleans, #1 ranked HS player per ESPN, does not play Defense.
Has never played Defense.
Will not play Defense.

Hopefully he has a good doctor. Shoulder injuries are nothing to mess with. Could be a long term disaster.

maybe he's a lazy, unmotivated football player and his entire team hates his attitude.

so if jalen didn't play safety he'd be the top player in the nation.

Most HS teams put their studs on both sides of the ball. When your playing to win can't afford not to have him on the field going both ways

I started at the very top.

I could produce a ton of them.

What position did Justin Hunter and CP play on Defense when in HS? Where did Clowney play on Offense?

When were JH and CP 5*s coming out of high school?

Didn't Clowney return kicks and/or punts in high school?

Don't know about CP, but Hunter definitely played DB as well.

Clowney was a running back in high school along with fellow two-way player DeVonte Holloman and QB/DB Stephon Gilmore.
