Why WOULDNT CUM take the Notre Dame job?

What difference does it make if you play a 1-AA school and beat them by 90 or WKU and beat them by 60?

I agree. There isn't any difference. But I still do think we normally play a more difficult non-conference schedule than UF.

Depends. For much of the last 20 years or so, the presence of FSU on the Gators schedule probably trumped just about anybody the Vols played OOC other than a couple of years against Notre Dame and Miami.

Both schools play a real, name opponent every year, Florida's just happens to be the same real, name opponent every year. They fill the remainder of the schedule with teams they really should beat without a terrible amount of trouble. CUSA and MWC are better than 1-AA, but the end result is that a power program should roll through those games or their coach should start networking for broadcast jobs.

If pressed, I agree that UT's OOC schedule is better than Florida's, but not enough so to be meaningful. The Gators play a tough conference schedule and a real OOC rival every year, and that's about all you can ask.

If he leaves, there will be a significant amount of money involved.

I would have to think that money and possibility for success are at least on equal footing (and probably necessarily dependent) when it comes to job consideration for coaches.

I could live without beating Urban Meyer. I want to beat Florida more than I want to beat their coach.

I still think ND has a shot at Urbs if they really want him. I know you guys have pointed out their hiring record, but the facts of the matter are these: ND has money, a large, wealthy fanbase, unrivaled national exposure (The Irish, when at the top, will get more run than any other program out there. Period) including their own TV network, the easiest possible path to a BCS game in D-I, and a national recruiting pool limited only by the talents of your recruiters.

The only thing limiting them is the powers that be pulling their heads out of their rear ends and making a good hire. ND is a sleeping giant.

ND isn't even going after him.

How many times do I have to say it? Kelly is their guy.

UF can and will go deeper in the bank than ND for Urban, if need be. I don't think it'll even come close to that though.

I think that it will be Kelly but nothing would surprise me. After the last 3 failure ND will try to make a big splash with a proven commodity to energize a dejected fan base.

I fail to get the knock on Montana... They are a very respected program in 1-AA and have won many national championship's. I think they could give ND a game.

You have no idea. Kelly may end up being the guy but I can assure you a lot is going on in South Bend right now.
