Why WOULDNT CUM take the Notre Dame job?

I would think Urban is waiting for a NFL job to open up, what else does he need to accomplish at the collegiate level?

1. Because it's easier to recruit at Florida then Notre Dame, more in state talent.
2. Because he's already built Florida up to win National Championships, Notre Dame would be another rebuilding job.
3. It's a lateral move, he's already a Div 1 coachin winning championships.
4. Florida will match whatever he's offered.

1. Florida has their state for a recruiting pool. Notre Dame has the whole country if they get a good recruiter.
2. The road to the national championship game is 10x easier at Notre Dame than it is at Florida. Even with a fairly easy schedule, ND going undefeated would almost guarantee a berth in the NCG.
3. No it's not. Notre Dame sucks, but it's still the highest profile gig in college football.
4. ND has more money.

1. Meyer has the luxury of bringing in the best in-state Florida talent while cherry picking the best national recruits. Less time away from family if he stays at Florida. His youngest child is in middle school and he wants to be there for his son.

2. The road might be easier, but there's still plenty of work to do before that easy schedule can translate into a BCS bid, let alone a BCS Championship Game invite or a team strong enough not to get destroyed by the best teams in the SEC.

3. No argument. Notre Dame is the only program I could see Meyer leaving for, even though it is fact a lateral move.

4. Factoring in Weiss's buyout, your statement might not be as true as you think.

This is complete BS. ND has more boosters and money than you can imagine. If they want Meyer and the only obstacle is money and a boatload of it then you might as well pack CUM's bags. I want him to stay in the conference but this is BS.

What's BS is the notion that ND will pay close to $20M to buy out one coach and pay the next guy $10M a year not including incentives.

I like the way you think.

I'd want him to stay to even the score too.

If he departed and you guys got a coach that we didn't despise, then that would just hurt the rivalry.

I want to hate you guys to the bottom of my soul, a douchebag coach is just the first step.

:)

Precisely...that's why we Gators are happy Kiffin is in Knoxville.

Fulmer was difficult to hate at times. It got to the point where we started feeling sorry for him.

Absurd.

o rly? ND may have more money overall, but it's not like they'd offer him say, 10 million a year. Any realistic amount they're willing to offer, UF can match. 4 championships in 3 years will do wonders.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

UF has plenty of work left to do.

No BS at all. I assure you ND has that kind of money. There is not a school in the nation that would win a bidding war with ND.

Florida is not even on the same level as ND when it comes to available funds for a football coach. ND will pay whatever it takes to get who they want, you can take that to the bank. With that said I still don't believe CUM will be the next ND coach.

Same reason GA Tech and Stanford can never succeed …… nevermind.

It's all relative...
Stanford's happy with 8 wins, a bowl game, and having an upset once a year

ND thinks they going to be in BCS bowls and National Championship games and it's not going to happen

So good luck to whoever goes there, setting realtistic expectations will be the biggest challenge
