I couldn’t agree more. A good first step would be to clearly define and communicate objective, weighted selection criteria. Then, to remove any doubts about the selection /seeding process being applied fairly and consistently, air CFP committee meetings publicly. The current closed-door process only breeds distrust and fuels speculation about back-room deals - akin to lobbyists in Washington. Perhaps, an open and transparent process would restore public trust and increase understanding.Such a joke. They need to revamp this playoff for next year.
It was never going to affect/push out Bama. Arizona State was always stuck in the 12th seed. The only thing that could change for them would have been had UNLV pulled the upset over Boise State, but even then all that would have done would be to move Arizona State to one of the 4 conference champion byes, drop Boise State out entirely, and put UNLV into the bottom 12th seed (for the same reason as ASU: 5th highest ranked conference champion is guaranteed a playoff spot). If it bumps out Bama, I am here for it!
Arizona State will be the #4 seed. Clemson or SMU will be #12.It was never going to affect/push out Bama. Arizona State was always stuck in the 12th seed. And take ND out of the equation unless they join a conference. They should not be able to just sit outside the 4 team conference winners and get to host. The bye system is total lunacy. The biggest flaw by far. Maybe we should move to the mountain west and get a bye every year.
I would hope this is the area of focus for change next year.
