Will Butch Jones restore Tennessee to Greatness?

Vols will improve (Hard not to after Dooley) but don't see any SEC championships with him at the helm. Wait and see.

Why would you possibly answer "no"? There's no great reason to answer "yes"... but there's no reason whatsoever to say "no". Why? Because part of being a fan is eternal hope. If you have no hope, you have no reason to stay interested as a fan unless you are just into self-torture or something.

I don't know if Jones is the hire that will have magic dust in his pockets. I HOPE that he is or that the next guy is or the next guy after him. So with each and every one... I will "wait and see"... because that's what a fan does. They hope for the best while being prepared for the worst.

The OP's constant harping and that of those like him does NOTHING to bring about the day when someone does turn the program around. It can do NOTHING but harm the program's image and thus things like recruiting and TV exposure and media impressions....

All the complaining in the world more than 8 months from Jones' first game as UT's HC will not change the simple fact that he IS UT's HC whether you like it or not. You can either get behind the team and hire... or you can silently bide your time... but to constantly run the coach and everyone else down is OPPOSED to the Vols... not "FOR" the Vols.

No, because he's lost to a lot of inferior teams and almost never beaten better teams. Not a good sign in the SEC.

I get the sense that the people against Butch here are wanting to see Butch fail so UT can hire a whining, egomaniacal person who is not a current NFL coach for a reason. That reason being that he literally frosted everyone in the organization he was in. I wouldn't be shocked at all if that person was still without an NFL job. This person loves the attention more than being at a place he says he loves. I call BS. If Gruden really wanted the job, he'd be here. He didn't. He can die in a fire as far as I care.

Definitely not that simple when Hart and Cheek are involved.

I have no doubt that he can coach the X's and O's. His record says that on it's own. The only question is can he, or someone on his staff, recruit well enough to compete in the SEC. Give him the right players, and I say "yes".

We'll know more February 6th. This incoming class will tell a lot about what kind of kids he can bring in and get this train back on track.

Just a stepping stone for CBJ if he has a good season or two, He'll go to the NFL. With that being said I think he stays in Knoxville.

I sincerely hope he's a good enough coach that NFL teams come calling.

That said, I give it about a .0000000000001% chance of happening.

I sincerely think that he's not that good of a coach but if somehow he was he would be gone after the first call.

I see what you're saying. I don't think we'll have that problem, but even if we did I'd rather have a great coach and see him leave than just have a terrible coach staying here.

I think CBJ understands the expectations around here...unlike Dooley who kept trying to keep expectations low with the whole year zero thing.

So if we don't reach the goals it won't be lack of trying...CBJ will coach his butt off
