Will Dylan Sampson break the all-time, single-season rushing record?

Definitely not insecure. Just proving that your level of competition matters the majority of the time. UNLV got waxed by Syracuse but held Boise’s superstar under 4 yards per carry and also had 33 carries. I was told he was doing all this damage with minimal workload but he has had 64 carries the past two games. Maybe people need to wait more than halfway through a season before they start anointing players.

I haven't read the whole thread but I was commenting primarily on the tendency of some fans (UT fans are definitely not unique in this regard) to take any sort of compliment of a player on another team as an affront to the fan's own team/players. For example a few years ago if you commented on Joe Burrow being incredible a few people around here would take that as diminishing Peyton, even if nobody had mentioned Peyton. That's what I am talking about seems borne of some weird fanhood insecurity.

Joe Burrow dominated the sport while playing in the toughest conference. To this date, that was the best quarterbacking display for an entire season that anyone has ever seen. Anyone who says otherwise is just refusing to give him credit. Jeanty is dominating while playing in the Mountain West. That’s my main point, there are completely different schedules. It’s easy to rack up stats in that conference. I would like to see him do it on a weekly basis vs the best of the best, not just a one week deal where anyone can have a great day.
