Will Ferguson get snaps against S Alabama?

????????????????, uh, fade, what does your response have to do with my post. I do believe I was reacting to some folks calling for Ferguson to be QB while neutering Peterman. Same folks who were howling for Peterman cause Worley was so bad, they said. My post was an admonishment about being so quick to turn against Vols players. The Ferguson call in my view was the latest indication. So not sure what the heck you're saying in relation to that in your post.

Your post was talking about how we all ant to bury Peterman, right? Just responding as to why that is. Confused by your confusion.

You people turn on your own with such eagerness, it's like being a Reaper-Zombie-cannibal hybrid. The man went up against a rabid defense in an extremely noisy and hostile environment. You can talk all you want about how loud Oregon's stadium is but places like Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Alabama are where it's at. One game and after you same people talking about how Peterman looked better than Worley in Eugene, one game he gets rattled and you want to bury him without a funeral. Now here you all are doing the Ferguson frug to the whines you think is music.

what do you mean, "you people"?

Your post was in defense of Worley who I said nothing against, support him actually. So Your confusion about my confusion, is further confusing. here, have a ber instead from the old Fidonet days. (~)]

First off...i am not saying i wish for Fergy to start, but woud love to see him or Dobbs in the 4th quarter for mopup duty. Peterman did not show that he is even backup material..no sense in keeping him 2nd string....no one could have done any worse than he did against UF....Worely however, showed a lot of progression and if he continues to improve he could be very servceabe by the UGA game...however, i would like o see one of the freshman play and become at least the backup unless they look all world of course.

No

I'm almost certain we'll see one of the true freshmen against S. Alabama, and it has nothing to do with anyone's performance except which true freshman is ahead of the other.

With Peterman's injury, one of Dobbs or Ferguson is number two, and they don't want a number two with no live game action if they can help it. One play and you're on your number two.

Unless they think Tyler Page or Patrick Ashford are ahead. :)

"You people" is self-evident in the post. People calling for Worley's removal in favor of Peterman. Peterman under performs in one game in one the most hostile environments in the SEC. Same people now call for Ferguson. the tendency as stated in that post for such Vols fans to turn against their own is astonishing.

If Ferguson shows in practice this week that he has an understanding of the playbook and can execute those plays, then he deserves and has earned the opportunity to play with first teamers. Do not waste a redshirt on mopup duty. If he has earned the time then open the second half with him, or give him a series or two in the first half.

I'm sorry but Worley and the receivers need to keep working in their timing. I think butch knows that and he keeps them in the whole game because they need the reps.

Looks like the Worley haters are now Peterman haters. Wow. Are you righting Peterman off after 1/2 of a game? He is a RSFreshmen.

If peterman really is hurt, then yes we'll see Ferguson a bit.

I would imagine the coaches want to make sure their 2nd string QB isn't completely inexperienced as we enter SEC play.

After all, he'll be just one missed block away from having to play UGA, USCe, or Bama in the coming weeks.

Tend to agree that UT needs to find a better #2 in case Worley goes down. Sounds like Ferguson has set himself apart from Dobbs.

I still think Peterman has talent and perhaps a future. Unfortunately, he is taking longer to develop than he can if he wants to play for UT. It sounds as if Ferguson is coming along quickly. IMHO, Peterman may have to transfer to have a hope of becoming a starter during his career.

I've never hated Worley but did think it was worth the shot to see if Peterman could bring some life to the O. I never dreamed they'd start him... I was thinking more of a series or two during the 1st half to see how it went.

Not really writing Nate off... just looking at the likelihood of the way things might happen. He's not ready. Not close. Most accounts have Ferguson developing quickly. They have similar physical tools. That means the RS Fr is about to be overtaken or has been overtaken by a true Fr who still has plenty of upside.

If it plays out that way then Nate basically stays at UT to see if an injury gives him an opportunity in a couple of years or he transfers to get a fresh start.

If we get ahead and have a big lead.... which is a big if. I sure hope so. Would love to see the kid get 4-5 possessions.

With petermans thumb issue I would say its 100% chance we will see Riley play some in the 4th.

I agree, we need to have a backup QB with at least some experience. Hope we get to see some playing time from one of the freshmen. I'm not sure about Peterman's future at UT. After his performance he may be buried on the depth chart when he returns. He may be best served by moving to a smaller school. Hate to suggest that as I had high hopes for him.

Dude, either Ferguson or Dobbs is number 2 QB this week, with Peterman out for 4 to 5 weeks with a broken thumb. We had better hope we're good enough to let the number to QB play in mop up duty, or were in bad shape.
