Will Ferguson get snaps against S Alabama?

This is going to ruin some people here's day, but I felt like it should be posted. This is a shot of Dobbs and Ferguson from the Oregon game. Notice which one is in pads, taped up, and ready to go and which one isn't. Looks like that scout team working simulating Mariota might have been more than we thought it was...

They are both in pads... And pretty sure Worley doesn't tape his wrist either. Does that mean Dobbs started and we didn't notice?

Couldn't care less which is better but wow, you are dumb.

Look at the picture, smart guy. Dobbs is clearly wearing the QB armor and Ferguson is clearly not. Again, I'm not biased whatsoever on the QB competition, but use that bright little noggin of yours here. Dobbs is ready to go in the game as is. Ferg would require 5-10 more minutes of dressing to be ready.

I knew this would rustle some jimmies, but try not to let your affinity for an 18 year old who's never taken a snap of college football cloud your judgment when it comes to information.

Dude... they are BOTH wearing pads.

FYI only.

Ferguson dressed and traveled to fl. Dobbs did not.

Presently, I'm not sure there is any advantage to red shirting Ferguson, we don't seem to run but a handfull of plays. However, if Butch is intent on not changing his offense to fit the personel, I hope he will continue to recruit another QB that fits his system.

Please, get your eyes checked.

Yes, Ferguson is wearing minimal shoulder padding. But he's NOT wearing the midsection padding that quarterbacks wear on the field. And he's not ready to go in. Dobbs is.

Again, I'm not biased on the freshmen. I'm really not. But look at the picture. What I'm pointing out is quite obvious. Dobbs is dressed to go in immediately and Ferguson is not.

If you're not willing to look at the facts here, I really can't help you.

Not all QBs wear rib protectors. I think you're reading a bit too much into it.

the facts are, until Peterman's injury neither were going to play. how they dressed for games didn't matter. if anything happened and they needed them ready to play, getting pads on is really easy..

Dobbs is a safety first/always be prepared kinda guy (we always knew he was smart). :)

Seriously, I'm not sure that we can read much into it, especially since Fergy has been described as more of a 'I can sling it faster than you can get me' kinda guy whereas Dobbs keeps plays alive via his feet (not necessarily to run forward either but to give receivers time to get open -- even from his HS tape when he runs he tends to allude defenders and still pass it more far more than trying to move up field although he does do it on occasion).

Of course, the media is often wrong since they usually don't see every minute of practice, rely on press releases more than they admit, and aren't experts. Journalism majors and others who found their way into sport's writing virtually all rely on sources. Even ex-players in sports media often have no clue.

Peterman's mobility is better than both of the true's. neither are that mobil

I seriously doubt that, having seen Dobbs's highlight tape vs peterman's.

Peterman may have better straight line speed, but Dobbs showed a lot of wiggle and elusiveness.

Peterman showed the ability to scramble fr a first down occasionally. Dobbs showed the ability to make a few guys miss and gain chunks of yards.

Ferguson will probably not play Saturday. I hope Vol fans are not suprised when S. Alabama gives the Vols all they can handle, seems that everyone has already chalked up a win for UT. The closer we get to game time the more concerned I become, because S. Ala is comming in with nothing to lose attitude and UT better be ready to play. I don't think for a minute that S. Alabama will lay down and play dead. After all this team is not good enough to take any team for granted.

^^Pretty much this. 40-speed ain't football speed. If only it were Neal would go from ok to good to looking like Gurley.

I don't see Butch taking the red shirt off Riley we need to let him learn and bring him in slowly so he can be a force for us the next 4yrs. GO VOLS!

Well it's either Riley or Josh right now. One of them has to be our #2 QB for now and by most accounts Riley is ahead. He better get plenty of snaps this week.... he's one play away from being the starter.

Butch just needs to find the one quarterback with the "IT" factor --the guy who makes the plays it takes to win football games.

Worley is a great character kid. He works hard and does the right things. However, the guy is (to put it nicely) just too nice (soft).

RF seems to have a cockiness about him. He'll throw a pick and be unaffected in that he'll want the ball and not worry about the interception. All he's ever done is win. It's in his DNA. I'm not pushing him for starter now. I'm just saying I think he is our future QB in Nov. if we are out of bowl consideration or next year if not. If I'm wrong and it's Dobbs or whoever then great but I think Ferguson has Johnny Football's mentality and hopefully a little bit of his ability one day. I'll probably get flamed but it's just an opinion not a prediction.

Graduate in 3, get masters in 2. Is that possible?

With mini-term and summer sessions it is more than possible. (That's basically 3 semesters when normal students are away). However, it depends on course offerings.

 Uuuuhhhhhh..........Larry....You better go back and watch Dobb's highlight tape. The one thing he has above the rest is pocket presence, and elusiveness when scrambling or running with the ball. Made a TON of plays with this feet, so I'd like to know where you're getting your info from.

The Alpharetta/Milton game is on YouTube also and I think it's a good example of his athleticism.

He shrugged off/avoided 3 or 4 would be sacks from Carl Lawson in that one
