Oh ok, so he'd be eligible to go out.....I don't really keep up with that.....Oh well, if he does(Rice) then let him, that just means the Gamecocks will suck more than they have LOL

Only reason i knew, is cause im in the middle of Cockville. :p

That's what I figured....I'm like you though, I'm giving in on him being gone this year too.....I better enjoy watching him score TD's for the Big Orange the next two games before he leaves....I'll miss watchin him play because he's exciting to watch

1. Calvin Johnson JR
2. Dallas Baker
3. Dwayne Jarrett
4. Jeff Smardzija
5. Ted Ginn JR
6. Anthony Gonzalez
7. Aundrae Allison
8. Dwayne Bowe
9. Steve Smith

...and the list goes on. The question is, how far can Meachem move up the board in a good workout? It's sometimes a gamble because you have to declare before you get to that point. There are a lot of pretty good WRs out there.

I don't think Dallas Baker will go that high. I'd take several receivers on that list over him.

You are correct. For someone with a child to pass up financial security to entertain the fans in Knoxville would be asinine.

You are right, but that isn't the way I would evaluate the choice if I were him. The decision should come down to where he would go in the draft this year should he leave vs. where he will go next year, and the difference, minus the year of lost income, in his financial situation down the road. If he and his family can live on peanut butter and jelly for a year in order for him to make several more million dollars, in the end, it is worth the trade.

There is a lot of speculation involved, and I don't know enough about the NFL scale of rookie pay and bonuses to know what the right decision is even if I knew where he would be picked, but I do know that if all of the underclassmen that are thought to be coming out do come out, Meacham should go higher next year than this year.

He really needs an experienced, impartial advisor to present him with his options, but, unfortunately, those are few and far between.

The class of WR's may get us one more year with Meach.

I just don't think one good season will put him where he wants to be against those guys in the eyes of the NFL.

I hope he don't end up like Maurice Clarett......I know the situations are different, that he wanted to go out after his Freshman year, I just hope if Meach does decide to go out and don't get drafted(unlikely) he don't get in the kind of trouble that he got into

I agree OS, I think he needs to have one more good season to get up in the top 3-4 WR's....Because if he stays next year, I'm no so sure he wouldn't be one of, if not THE best WR in college football next year

I don't think there is a chance in hell he ends up like Clarett.

Both from an undrafted standpoint and an off the field standpoint.

Robert is a very special person. He is NOTHING like Clarett.

I would rather see him stay and have a "good" season and go in the second round next year, (Worst Case Scenario outside of an injury) than see him go this season and end up slipping to the late third, 4th round.

Oh I definitely don't think he's anything like that loser, but crazier things have happened.....I'd rather see him stay too and go 2nd round next year and bust his hump to make more money for your family....Got to admire a man like that

NO!
And don't post this ridiculous thread anymore!

Someone might say that Donte Stallworth almost came back (actually tried to; too late). Donte was never redshirted, whereas, Meachem is in the senior class of Bret Smith and Jason Swain. He would be insane to even think of returning and I'm sure Tennessee recruiters are telling WR prospects that #3 won't be back.

I can't believe how you guys keep forgetting about Austin Rogers. I think he's head and shoulders better than Brisco, Slick, and Lucas Taylor. In fact how can you even mention Slick since he's never played.

I think Briscoe and Taylor are even or better than Austin Rogers. But Rogers is third. However, Hancock might have some input on that.

After seeing the seasons that Swain and Meachem have had, it's kind of funny that in the preseason there were murmurs about Hancock being our most dynamic receiver.

IT all depends on where he is projected to go. First or Second round he's gone, later then that he's probably better off staying. I doubt he's stays though, probably early 2nd round or late first round pick. His subpar sophomore year hurts him I think.

What kind of year is it for WR's this year?

I think that's probably because he's an underclassman. They only have 4 rated.
