Wiseman ineligible

ANYBODY that was just the least bit familiar with this whole deal with PH and the Wiseman family have been walking around on egg shells hoping this type stuff wouldn't fall. There was just to much that appeared unethical the entire time. If you provide ANYTHIING the NCAA deems gratuities you have committed a serious violation. This is another example of the problems with shoe companies, AAU, and Universities being associated to closely. Problems more than likely will arise. I personally don't care one way or the other but again makes me appreciate our head coach even more.
Nothing like this would ever happen under Barnes. That is for sure.

Laughing at Penny Hardaway aside, which is tough because I really enjoy laughing at him but, how could he possibly feign ignorance of the rules in this situation? There's nowhere for Hardaway or Memphis to hide. He knew he helped Wiseman move, he knew he had a relationship with the family in which he gave them money, so ... how could he NOT be aware that Wiseman choosing to play at Memphis could jeopardize his status? That's what I find astounding here. Memphis is trying to spin this as some sort of shock situation, but there's no secrets here. Everyone involved, up to and especially including the head coach, was a first party to the relationship that could be a problem for Wiseman -- only if he went to Memphis anyway. Any other school, he'd be fine. So ... how can Hardaway possibly not be prepared for this?

Does anyone know the judge that issued the temporary restraining order? Hell, he’s probably an alum and booster himself. Just when I thought Penny and Memphis couldn’t become more comical...
I hope the NCAA slaps that garbage program with the most harsh penalties allowed.
I despise Memphis basketball on the same level of Alabama football.
GBO!!

I don't like Memphis, but this feels pretty unfair. As far as I know, the NCAA doesn't have jurisdiction to ban a player from moving to play for a high school coach. Penny had no association with Memphis at the time other than it being his alma mater and doing what many of us have done, that being donating money to their school.

What's to stop the NCAA from coming after the Vols on something trumped up? I'd be shocked if none of our players in football or basketball had something similar happen to what happened with that Ohio State player this morning. I'm all for Memphis going down, but not like this.

Penny was deemed a booster, which made it illegal

Penny wasnt forthcoming during initial NCAA eligibility review. That's going to be the bigger issue

Nothing to see here matra worked out pretty well for Will Wade. "wire taps don't mean anything, we're all good" and apparently, they are.

I have zero sympathy for that program in the western part of the state.

Who tipped the NCAA? Penny has enemies within the coaching profession.

UofM Athletics released a lengthy statement Friday evening, confirming Wiseman would play and saying they are working toward a speedy resolution.
