WNBA discussion thread?

Good point. Satou hasn't been reliable.

Speaking of injury history, I wonder if that was why the Sparks were ok giving up #2 pick. They do such intense interviews and studies on potential draftees, I suspect they may know something about Paige or Miles that caused them to trade the pick instead of Rickea, which is what the Storm wanted.
it was smarter to give up the 2nd pick than kea because they signed O to a 1 yr deal and that’s the funniest thing Paige and Olivia can stay another year😂😂

I can't imagine Bueckers would want to stay yet another year in college. There comes a time when it's time to move on to the next phase in life, and surely she's reached that point by now. But you never know. She may need another year of maturity, but she'd end up being nearly 25 years old as a rookie if she doesn't come out after this season. Of course, I don't know where she stands academically and whether she's already graduated or not.

I personally think she’s out but she might want another chance at a ring if they don’t get it..azzi has another year too huh?

Paige has graduated, and she has never said anything about not going to Dallas. There is so much crap in some of these podcasts, but I don't believe she has any plans to come back to college. Besides, with all the trades and free agent signings you don't know what Dallas or many other teams will look like when the dust settles.

Dallas is def better now than they were last week but it will still be a bit experimental. I think Paige comes out but the one thing that might give her pause (besides trying to get the ball away fm Arike) is the new contract next yr. Don't think rooks will be tied up for 4 yrs for chump change anymore.

Seattle sent Joyner Holmes and Sami Whitcomb out today. Not sure who they'll fill the roster with but surre glad they've left Jordy alone.

"W island of broken toys"

😂🤣

I guess my only option will be to root for Diamond to somehow score all their points and get all their rebounds every game -- but still lose. Every game. 😅

Like you, I'm happy she hasn't been waived and hope she'll get at least a couple more seasons. Same for Izzy. 🧡🧡

Lol (Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison - no relation - traded Luka Doncic)

Izzy's real Dad is legendary Philly Eagles tight end Dennis "Big Foot" Harrison. I'm sure the family is excited for the Super Bowl this weekend.
Kea plays tonight at 730
Rae's team, Vinyl, plays the second game tonight.

Rae had a nice game last night even though her team got thumped. TSpoon had her running the point some. This experience has been great for Rae, the announcers said the GMs hanging around had been noticing her favorably. Hands off, she stays a Spark!

Rae is one of those players who did not peak in either high school or college, but is really just now starting to play like a professional, full-grown woman. And she may still get three or four more years of steady growth if she stays healthy and can keep a roster spot. She's getting better, so she may actually beat the odds and stick around. I hope so. I've always enjoyed the bursts of energy she brings.

Editing to say that I didn't mean to say that she hasn't played like a professional before. I guess what I mean is that even though she was good enough to be drafted and haveca roster spot now, until recently I felt like she could be waived at any moment. Not anymore, though, 'cause she's showing more maturity on the court than ever.

I feel like Rae is in the most secure spot she's ever been in going into this training camp. Don't know about Lynne Roberts but the Sparrs org seems to love her and her teammates definitely do. That said, Rae is the best trade bait the Sparks have that they would actually trade away. Hope it's in LA, but Rae will def play somewhere this season.

She got one of the last invites to Unrivaled, arguably bc others turned them down. But it's been absolutely golden for her. She's part of the Cool Kids clique finally.

On the court the key for Rae, and also Rickea, is to be a more reliable 3 pt shooter, esp in Roberts' system.

It’s a play on the actual saying…..she knows it’s retrograde. My friends and I say - “Mercury must be dealing with Gatorade this month” 😩😂
I do this with my students when I am in a tizzy. "I forgot to publish grades again?! Mercury must be in the microwave, drinking gatorade, etc etc" Every semester it gets fewer laughs 🙁
