Woke companies are crazy

... or maybe some people are going in search of offense these days? It's become trendy to fight against "wokeness."

Pink Floyd’s Fake Fans Clowned for Being Triggered By ‘Woke’ Rainbow – Rolling Stone

^^^^ This is the Pink Floyd story I mentioned up above. ^^^^
Give me a break. If someone gets outraged over the Floyd album cover that’s been displayed for (guess) I’d say 50 years then they are a complete dumb a$$. Budweiser, however, thought it wise to ditch their demographic for a progressive, all inclusive promotion given to an obvious mentally ill person. And Bud execs can’t act like they didn’t know. They knew what was up. Hell, BB, real women don’t even act like Dylan Mulvaney. Dudes a cartoon character. I freaking hate that word “woke”. It’s not wokeness it’s embracing of the social fringes and taboos of our society and promoting them as normal everyday occurrences.

I'm just saying that the right is actively searching for examples of "woke" corporate strategy right now. It's become a trendy thing to attack. In many cases, I think the right is just drawing attention to subtle changes made to brand marketing which would have mostly gone unnoticed without their outrage.

Maybe. Or it could be the exposure to fringe society that further kicks our can down the road of immortality that the majority of the population deem unacceptable.

I don’t really understand the uproar. The promotion involves one of hundreds of influencers hired by Bud. It doesn’t attempt to alienate Bud drinkers. It simply shows support for LBGTQ community.

Why does this so offend Bud drinkers?
Probably because a lot of them are really tired of people like mulvaney being held up as idols by the media, corporations, the white house, etc..

I think a lot of people are like me, and had no idea who Dylan Mulvaney was, or that he/she was being used in a Bud Light ad campaign until right-wing outrage bubbled up. I think you're over-stating his/her amount of exposure just a bit. He/she has become famous more as a result of right-wing criticism, than anyone making an "idol" of him/her.

This boycott of A-B by the right is different because in the past the right would complain and not do really anything. This is obviously working because the left is complaining about it and attacking Walsh.

This boycott is just more doable. AB isn’t Nike. Nike pulls this crap all the time and gets away with because there are about 3 or 4 competitors in their space. And their competitors, by and large, operate similarly with their messaging. So who are people going to opt to?

With beer, you have about a bazillion options. The consumer isn’t nearly as cornered here.

Same here, never heard the name before all this. That doesn't negate what I wrote. A lot of people think that they can't turn around without hearing how admirable folks like Dylan are. They feel like they're being coerced into celebrating something they don't want to celebrate and they're really tired of it . So when Bud Light or BMW or whoever advertises that way people notice and say 'look at that, now it's XYZ pushing the agenda'. That's what I pick up anyway.

Maybe it would be smart for AB to recognize that bud light's market share will decrease regardless, keep those current customers they can, and try to recover sales with a variety of hip new brews.

This was bound to happen. It just became like some race to the bottom on the marketing side.

Can we be the most inclusive?
Does it help our business?
Who cares? Business school taught me to focus on this BS.

It's the kind of radical shift in brand marketing strategy, which does make it appear as though Anheuser-Busch is concerned about recent sales of Bud Light. If it bothers anyone, I think the better response would be to drink Miller Lite and not draw attention to their ad.

That may well be but if so there's a problem with the business school. I hope they don't teach that wrecking profits is a goal.

That avoids why people don't welcome such marketing but yeah they could drink Miller, or shoot smack, or find something else to buy.

Who are the “Bud drinkers”? I think we both know.

So Bud Light chose to put a Trans woman on a can. Their choice. But they did do it.

So now the question is why are the “Bud drinkers” mad?

Either the (now gone) VP for Bud Light did not know who the “Bud drinkers” were, or did not care what the “Bud drinkers” would think. I guess both are possible.

Nike sells basketball shoes. Who buys basketball shoes? They can say whatever they want - they are simply preaching to the choir.

AB sells crappy, cheap beer. Who buys crappy, cheap beer? They are learning a painful lesson.

“Woke” is being shoved down their throats right now.

At school
At work
On TV
In the military

And you are confused as to why they are attacking it?

I mean the people at AB and Bud Light specifically, flat out had their heads in the sand here.

Right-wingers are actively searching for it, and often seeing "woke" where it doesn't exist. See the Pink Floyd example from earlier.

Yes. They are pointing out anything and everything they see/hear. Would point out a $17 loss if they could pin it on “woke”.

I’m confused as to your confusion over “why”.
