Women's World Cup 2011

I'm a typical American guy who can't stand to watch boring sports: BASEBALL, soccer, golf, etc....but I have to admit I've gotten drawn in to the USA games. I know the Brazil game was abnormally exciting, but every men's game I've seen has been significantly less watchable than any women's.

women make a lot more mistakes than men do, so it does open up more scoring chances. that final goal by brazil was just poorly played by the US, even though that girl was offsides

The final goal for Brazil was also a ridiculously well struck ball by the best women's player in the world (didn't know that until yesterday). The US defender was too worried about calling offsides as well.

the end of that match yesterday was anything but boring.

well it was offsides but that doesn't take away from the ridiculous skill of the goal. Solo had no chance

Just got around to watching the game late last night. The refereeing calling back that PK because Solo left her line was complete trash. She barely left her line and I've never seen that called in any professional football game. Luckily, the referee was consistent and called it on the Brazil goalie, when she probably was four feet out of the goal mouth.

I believe the encroachment was called on a US player entering the box early.

It was because entering the box early but the commentators were quick to say that is something that's very rarely called. The refs followed the rule and were quick to do so later too but overall it seems like they're very lax in enforcing it.

Yeah, I said "entering the box early". Ironic for women's soccer

it is rarely called but I had it go against me once in HS. Nothing more demoralizing as a keeper than to save a pk and be on top of the world to having to try and save a 2nd one

The only time I've shot a pk, it was called on the goalkeep, they blocked the first one so I didn't mind a retry :)

I'll just watch it online at work. ESPN.com was broadcasting the last game, so I'm assuming they'll do the same today.

I'll be in the car so not an option for me. Guess I'll dvr it
