Agreed. Stuff like this doesn't help the cause. There are legitimate phrases and expressions that can be categorized as racist or as having a racist origin (such as "selling someone down the river"). "Field" is not one of those.

My issue is that those who claim to be offended at some of these things is, its like all context/intent is completely thrown out the window now. Yes I'm sure "selling someone down the river" was used 500 years ago as an expression of slave trade. But in 2023 it has a COMPLETELY different meaning and if someone happens to use that expression now, people should have enough cognitive awareness to understand that instead of getting their panties in a wad and go crying to HR. Just like the expression "the rule of thumb" derives from an old English law that said a man could not beat his wife with anything larger than the width of his thumb. An abhorrent law, of course. But we all know that the expression now has nothing to do with that. I dont understand why people cant just have enough emotional intelligence to see that and move on with their lives instead of grandstanding and demanding change at every drop of the hat (and I'm sure THAT expression is offensive to someone, somewhere).

To the extent that kids are unteachable it’s mainly because they know they can’t fail. Come hell or high water they will be passed in order to keep the promotion and graduation rates up. Gone are the days of consequences, in school or at home, for poor performance and/or behavior. Even parents who want to do the right thing often can’t find time to properly parent between working multiple jobs just to survive and caring for their aging parents.

Do you know the word "you" doesn't always refer to the person being addressed? It can refer to the group of people that support an idea. In some cases which I think without the poster saying it that he means "you" as in "anyone".

The behavior in and of itself is how fascism spreads to control speech. I think the democrat party and it's supporters on the left have already planted the seeds of fascism in recent years.
