If you ever really want to learn the answer to your initial question of why they do this, you’re going to need to read Horkheimer. There’s this false view that many on the left see capitalism as harmful to the poor and middle class. Horkheimer (the guy behind critical theory and one of the members of the Frankfort school) openly admitted that capitalism had made the lives of the middle and lower classes far better than they anticipated.

Horkheimer saw the terms freedom and justice as opposites. So to achieve justice (racial) we must limit freedom (in this case the freedom to use specific language).

Horkheimer saw culture (aka the fabric of society) and the wealth generated by capitalism as the two things preventing the revolution predicted by Marx and therefore he targeted both. The left today still do the same because they remain influenced by Horkheimer’s (the father or critical theory) work.

I can happily provide examples of him stating these things openly if you’d like.

I think another aspect of this is the desire for heroism. Many deeply admire those who fought for civil rights in the 60s (rightfully so). They want to see themselves in the same light, so they attack anything that could ever be seen as slightly racist by any single person and at any cost to society.

History needs to be taken care of next. Even if the name isn’t intentionally offensive it can still cause harm to the members of our community who have vaginas and/or those who identify as having a vagina.
