Workers are applying for jobs left and right, but hearing nothing back

Its a balancing act. The key to ending the response to Covid at the earliest point which is both responsible from a public health point of view and which minimizes disruption as much as possible is for people to get vaccinated and do a few basic sensible other things to force it to run its course faster.

The irony of the anti-response crowd and their claim that the covid response is hurting the economy is that they, by their irresponsibility and selfishness as to vaccines and masks, are a primary reason we are making slower progress than we would all otherwise like.

Covid has infected about 12% of the total population in more than a year and a half. That's about .75% of the population a month. Thats not enough to cause these issues. Our economy would not be in the current state if we had done nothing. Our response has been worse.

Look at schools. The delta of kids committing suicide is far higher than kids dying of Covid. Look at the age break downs it's not until you get past retirement age that you largely even break 1% CFR, hard to say that's driving the economy down.

Instead of a rotating much less than 5% of the workforce out sick at any given time, we shut down pretty much everyone, causing disruptions all over the place. Even if that lasted for just a month, it was worse for our economy than letting Covid blow thru.

The anti lockdown people have been proposing a sensible protection plans that were balanced in regards to the economy and Covid. Protect the at risk, cough cough New York, let everyone else go to work and live normally. Sure we would have had more sick and dead from Covid, but the economy disaster may have been dodged. And if we see empty shelves I guarentee things get far worse than the slight uptick in deaths we would have had from a non shuttered workforce.

The experts did not act like experts at all. They panicked, ignored science, ignored outside input on things like economy or the psychology impacts.

10/hour base for bartenders and 14/hour base for principal bartenders.

Our sister location in Omaha usually has them averaging 35-50/hour in gratuity. It never cracks 18% in labor.
Average ticket price? Its gotta be over $30... likely closer to $40.

Defiance is celebrated. That tells you something about their thinking.

Defiance is extremely important to both personal and societal development. Norms are created not only through consensus but by pushing the boundaries to see where the breaking point is.

Meh... I don't consider looking for breaking points in society to be a benefit. What you said sounds like a Cloward-Piven talking point.

I see the need for rebels to be when the state overreaches and goes to far. They are not people to be used for destruction or even eroding society. They are useful in protecting the society by offering pushback and noncompliance.

Cocktails range from $9-12. Beers from $4-7. Wines BTG from $8-14.

It's a food hall. The food vendors pay whatever they want to their guys, but these are essentially food truck price points with a slight markup for my company's cut.

Afraid your guess is pretty far off the mark.

No, you told me what the price of individual items were. I asked you what the average ticket price was. How much on average does a customer spend on each visit?

True but rebels ought to have a reasoning, not just rebel for rebel's sake. Which is largely what we have here.
The fact that you cant consider that there is any reason what so ever to push back against the GOVERNMENT is very telling.

No idea
Point being most offensive is scheduling and just being so many no shows, speaks to the character of those applying
I am not disagreeing with you there.

But maybe if the pay was higher for that position then it might attract higher quality candidates. Then there might not be so many no shows. Just my opinion.

Wasn’t way I was raised and I worked shipping in my 20’s for less than $4 hour.
Cancellation call takes 1 minute
Our nation is screwed

21 interviews scheduled for our shipping dept position. 1 guy shows up so 20 no shows
Unbelievable
Have a friend opening a restaurant where I live. Exact same case- she got 20 applications for open positions, 0- yes, ZERO- showed up for interviews.

These are sh*tbags putting in applications to check a box for unemployment and then (apparently) lying on surveys about it.

I agree. It takes a one minute call to cancel.
However, the person working in shipping is just as valuable to the organization as anyone else is. If the pay is less than 30K a year based on a 40 hour work week in 2021 then that's a problem. We are approaching 2022. Pay should be respectable and should allow someone to make a decent living. Well Pay raises and performance bonuses should be in line with the rest of the company.

I think that's more than fair.

No the person in shipping isn’t as valuable as anyone else, hence the lower pay than the shipping supervisor, logistics manager, plant manager, president, etc.

That literally is what the pay represents, the value of the position.
