World Series: Texas Rangers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Great choke job, Cards. Now time to lose 3 in a row in Arlington.

Want this series to go to 7 games

then my schedule will be free enough to celebrate with everyone in STL :)

La Russa is just the absolute worst manager to watch. This game was breezing right along before he decided to use the entire organization in his bullpen for every batter.

He put the team right where you wanna be. A lead at home in the top of the 9th and handing your closer the ball. Motte almost always comes through. Didn't tonight and that's just baseball. 9 out of 10 times the Cards win in that situation. I don't have a problem with how he handled the pitching except for not walking Young. And if you've watched the Cards you know Tony hates to int walk a batter. A good game, we just got beat tonight. This series is far from over. Cards will win one or 2 in Tx.

Rangers should just forget the idea of going back to St. Louis and win three in a row.

At least he tries. It worked nearly to perfection until Motte blew it.

Can't blame that all on Motte. Pujols cuts that ball, it's possibly a different game. LaRussa did make the wrong move taking out Motte when he did. Motte is the only guy in that pen capable of getting a K.

The only one who can get a k? You may wanna check the box scores from last night and game one.

But yes, this isn't just on Motte. A couple bloop singles can happen to anyone. There was a bunch of things that went the Rangers way. Play Double deep was part of it, AP not making the cut are just a few.

Like I said, the team was in position to win and 9-10 times they win there. I'd take that same set up in each of the next games and hand the ball to Motte in the top of the 9th.

Playing safe with the OF at the warning track set it in motion. I agree with guarding the opposite field line on the infield with a fastball pitcher, but not warning track on a cold night.

It's "No Doubles" defense and more than likely 100% of the teams in the MLB would have been playing the same way.

He's pretty much done it masterfully throughout this postseason. Every out is huge.

I know what its called, but it was cold and a little windy. Hindsight of course, but the prevention of a double allowed a loop single and the game changed. I didn't see many balls hit over the past OF all night. Why change there.

I agree with you on the ball carrying. Pujols absolutely crushed one to right center that is a homerun on any other night.

The defense is used to not only prevent a ball from getting over your head but also guarding the lines somewhat and also enabling your outfield to get a better angle on a ball in the gap in the hops of cutting it off before it goes to the wall.

Surely you jest in thinking Arthur Rhodes gets a strikeout in that situation? Just because he stumbled upon a nut earlier doesn't mean he can repeat it.

LaRussa has pressed buttons that have worked since the entire second half of the season. Last night it bit him. That's the price you pay for micromanaging.

Yes, his entire career has been a failure as a manager. Damn if only we could hire you as manager.

Expected response. You should look up the previous posts of mine describing what I think about managers. It's the most overrated position in all of sports. LaRussa takes the credit anytime a camera on him. Therefore, he should shoulder some of the negative too, no?

He does take the blame. And I disagree with you on your opinion about managers. I've read your garbage posts in the past.

And TL hates the media and doing interviews. To say he takes credit anytime the camera is on him is laughable.
I don't know of another manager who does more with less than TL. He IMO is the best in the game and I don't think it's close.

more with less? Is that why the Dodgers, with one pitcher, stomped the monkey piss out of his bash brothers? Come on.

If you don't think Tony laRussa loves both credit and a camera, then you have proved beyond infinity that your Guru tag is laughable.
