Worley

Right now I'll take his through the roof passer rating and 3TD to Zero picks. A great start. GBO!!!

He was dreadful. That wasn't a legitimate opponent. Worley has little hope against sec defenses. Imo, should take our chances with NP and hope for the best.

Seemed like our defense went into the 3rd string a bit and that's when it got really scary. I know at one point we had multiple walk-ons in the secondary.

I'm concerned about depth as well. It will show itself once we get into SEC play and we should all remember the hand Butch was dealt roster-wise for awhile. The second half play by our 2nd and 3rd teamers refuted the idea by a few Dooley holdouts on here that DD left Butch with a deep, talented roster... he didn't. He's gonna have to get bowl eligible with virtually no significant injuries and smoke and mirrors in large part.

Well if Worley was as bad as some people are saying then CBJ would have had him play more in the second half.

Our depth isn't as bad as people think. For starters, are we going to replace the entire defense or offense with the 2nd or 3rd team? Second/Third team made a few more mistakes. It only takes one or two mistakes on Oline or running wrong pattern, wrong coverage to make the whole squad look terrible. They are just less ready but now they know what to work on to be better.

Also, some of our 2's and maybe even 3's are starting until Maggitt, Jaques, Vereen, Riyahd?, etc are ready to play.

Maybe you should have watched the game before you came to that conclusion.

Here's a thought... What if our young and talented receivers came out of their breaks a little early and Worley was throwing those timing routes to spots on the field where they should've been?

The passing game works both ways. Deep routes less so, but crossing routes, posts, slants and hitches depend on the receiver coming out of his breaks where and when he's supposed to. I'm not saying Worley was perfect but all us armchairs need to think about that too.

Please don't take up for Worley no one on here wants to hear this. I was there Worley played the game the way he was supposed to, we do not know if the receiver ran the timing route wrong or if it was all Worley's fault. I have confidence in CBJ to take care of the fine tuning and all us armchair coaches should sit back and try to be happy we have a competent coach. GBO!

Well I wasn't exactly taking up for him (even though I think he'll be a fine quarterback for us), but too many people don't look at the whole picture. Basically you said exactly what I said. So I'm not sure what your point is by saying not to take up for him.. Unless I'm missing something in the tone of your post.

Dreadful? I know your posts are always negative but come on bud. 11-13 with 3 tds is not in any way dreadful. His accuracy was off a bit or he'd have been 13-13 with another TD in one half of work...that's good irrespective of the opponent.

Think I'll go with Butch's assessment which was that he managed the offense very well, took the plays that were there and led the offense well. Peterman may at some point play well and prove that he should be the starter, but it wasn't last night.

I think we'll start rotating in a freshman, if Worley starts floundering. I think Worley hasn't seized his opportunity, and it will soon be someone else's. JMO.

If he starts floundering maybe. But I say after last night Worley strengthened his grip on the starting QB position.

He's our best option right now, so the job is his by default. He was serviceable-- maybe slightly better than that-- but I think he'll be passed by a freshman sometime in the season. JMO. I'm hoping he excels.

I personally would have preferred Josh Dobbs to start, but as long as Worley plays consistent and doesn't turn the ball over I am fine with him

Worley should be fine. After all, we lead the Nation in Scoring Defense! lol

I wouldn't get too excited about that just yet. We will definitely have an improved defense (how could it get worse!!!) but keep in mind we have Oregon in two weeks followed by FLA, UGA, Bama, and SC within the next 7 weeks
