Worst game ever?

Those aren't beautiful either, tonight was worse than any of them. We missed 60 fg/ft attemps combined tonight and they missed 52. I have never seen two teams lay that many bricks in a game. 112 missed shots is ridiculously bad. I can't imagine that isn't a record for either school for combined misses in a game. If we'd shot as well tonight as in any of the games you linked, we win.

I’m not going to get in the weeds about the difference between 15% from 3 or 18%. Heck, in that Bama game I linked, we shot 11% from 3 and 31% overall. These games were boring because our coaches played a slow ass form of offense. If you thought they were more exciting to watch, then I don’t know what to say. I’d rather watch more up and down and missed shots than those I linked. But to suggest this game was the worst ever is just kind of dumb. It was very bad, but I have literally listed some that were just as bad or worse.

That's your opinion and I have mine. This game was worse to me because we are better by far than those teams you linked. Expectations are different. The teams didn't just miss shots, they badly missed easy shots. In one short stretch JJJ did what ever he did on the break away and Texas Tech followed that up by missing a free throw by 3 feet. I attended many high school games and about a dozen middle school games a year. This game looked like a middle school game by both teams. It was awful in every way a game can be. Both teams are likely embarrassed about that effort.

Lol…this wasn’t the worst game ever. Just recency bias.

I mean I felt worse about our elite 8 loss but this was the ugliest game I've ever seen and that includes the Temple game that was 11-6. That was just boring. This one was just ugly, awful, basketball that got so bad that I just laughed through the last 20 minutes. It was like watching people who'd never played basketball before out there. My gosh, the offical Vol basketball twitter was cracking jokes on the effort.

I get it. It was bad. But I’ve seen really bad basketball and will see again sometime. I just don’t get people who are overly dramatic when this wasn’t the worst played game ever.

After some searching, we were close to a record but not quite. The worst shooting game for a team in NCAA history was Northern Illinois, who missed 68 fg/ft combined in a game where they set three NCAA records for awful shooting. So we missed the record by 8 it looks like with our 60 misses.

Laid an egg on the national stage…..again
That's the worst offensive showing i think I've ever seen---period! At one point it was 4/32 on 3-pts I think. Didthey EVERget any rebounds under their own basket. Terrible. Just terrible.

Wake up people, this is a reoccurring theme. Same thing happened in March against Oregon State and has been happening under Barnes. He is not a good coach, the game has passed him by. WAKE THE **** UP
Wrong! One game does not a season make . I'll give you credit though, Barnes didn't score any points.

6 of 40. No D1 team should shoot that bad. None.
I understand the "shooter's mentality" of keep letting it fly, but seriously, at what point as a coach do you just say, guys it's not falling for us tonight, drive the basket, and try to score or draw a foul (but weren't hitting those either)

Yes. Georgetown 2012. Did you only watch when we are preseason top 25 or are you seven?

I watched that Georgetown game, when we were firmly in the Counzone, and it was terrible.

Last night's game was also terrible. We missed 36 three pointers. That's an atrocious stat. I know this team is still talented, and will still be fine come March with seeding, will still have opportunities to win marquee games in the SEC this year, etc, etc. BUT, that game was absolutely no fun to watch, and I don't blame the casual fan who tunes in for a few nationally televised games a year for being upset that they spent their time watching that product on the court.

Funny how drive-by posters like yourself suddenly show up after a loss, huh?
I'm #1 a football fan and post a lot already on the fb forum. I didn't magically show up when they won big games. This is literally the 1st thread I've ever posted her.

Hence the Definition of a Drive By Poster in the BB Forum....

I was at the loss to UTC many years back. That was a bad game. This was just an extremely ugly poor shooting night. It was a loss. Simple as that.

Same issues plague this team as previous teams for Barnes, no inside game, streaky 3 point shooting ( but chuck em up anyway) and defense cannot guard a corner three.
