Worst President's First 100 Days in History

Yeah, but that game is just going to let everybody off the hook. "Obama wasn't really going to change our foreign policy course. It was a tactic."

You can just whitewash any flip flop with that.

view it however you like. I see a difference between a tactic statement "label currency manipulator" and policy "bring China to the table and improve trade". Now if he says everything's cool with China and we are no longer interested in changing our trade relationship I'll get onboard with your view.

"The first hundred days of a first-term presidency of a President of the United States are sometimes used to measure the successes and accomplishments of a president during the time that the president's power and influence are at their greatest."

On the mind changes (not defending; trying to explain) some of it is the way he gets to outcomes.

China - lay down a marker about labeling a currency manipulator; have the negotiation; take that off the table in return for help on NK and other. At least in the short term it looks like the China encounter worked out pretty well.

NATO - lay down a marker that we might reconsider our commitment since NATO nations aren't fulfilling their obligation and not focused enough on fighting terrorism. Meet with Germany and NATO and now countries are upping their financial commitment and expanding their efforts in fighting terror.

The outcomes of both the above are wins. It's far too simplistic to label his actions as simply flip flopping (though he does some of that too). It's a negotiation style in many cases.

On Syria I think the CE usage prompted what both sides of the aisle and most of our allies call a necessary, measured and proportionate response. It doesn't signify some grand shift in Syrian policy.

This is going to be how he operates. People can howl if they like but I'd say the FP track record is about as good as it could be for any POTUS in the same situation. I imagine our allies are encouraged and our foes are concerned. Nice change IMHO.

Prior to Trump's presidency, I'm pretty sure that Germany had already formally agreed to raise its military spending to 2% of its GDP, and already had a 10-year (or so) timetable to ratchet its spending up to that point over time. Frankly, I don't believe Trump's did anything to precipitate this or accelerate it.

Awwww, play nice now BOT. Look, I found another Wikipedia page that appears to enumerate most of your symptoms, PLUS it offers a cure!

Neurosyphilis

Neurosyphilis is an infection of the brain or spinal cord caused by the spirochete Treponema pallidum. It usually occurs in people who have had chronic, untreated syphilis, usually about 10 to 20 years after first infection and develops in about 25%–40% of persons who are not treated.

Signs and symptoms

Symptoms of neurosyphilis include, but are not limited to the following:

Abnormal gait
Blindness
Confusion, disorientation
Sudden personality changes
Changes in mental stability
Dementia
Depression
Headache
Fecal and urinary incontinence
Irritability
Memory problems
Mood disturbances
Numbness in the toes, feet, or legs
Poor concentration
Psychosis
Seizures
Neck stiffness
Tremors
Visual disturbances

Treatment

Penicillin is used to treat neurosyphilis, however, early diagnosis and treatment is critical. :good!:

The White House denies giving Germany a big bill
Monday, 27 Mar 2017 | 10:54 AM ET | 00:42

President Donald Trump reportedly handed German Chancellor Angela Merkel a bill for around £300 billion ($374 billion) for the money her country "owed" Nato for defending it, a report said on Sunday, a claim that was flatly rejected by the White House.

The Times, a U.K.-based publication, cited unnamed sources that claimed Trump handed Merkel a bill for the U.S.'s services to the alliance when the two met recently in Washington. Trump has chided several countries in the alliance, including Germany, for not spending enough on defense, forcing the U.S. to shoulder most of the financial and logistic burden.

However, Michael Short, a White House spokesperson told CNBC that the report was "false."

From the CNN article in another thread

Stoltenberg, however, expressed gratitude to Trump directly Wednesday for his emphasis on boosting allied defense spending.
"I thank you for your attention to this issue," he said. "We are already seeing the effects of your strong focus on the importance on burden-sharing in the alliance."

It was more than Germany not living up to their commitment

From the same article

During the presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly slammed the members -- 23 out of 28 -- that are not meeting the alliance's recommended defense spending levels of 2% of GDP.
But there has been progress on that front, too.
NATO announced that the its members had boosted its overall non-US defense spending by 3.8%, or $10 billion, in 2016. Romania, Latvia and Lithuania -- all concerned about the ambitions of nearby Russia -- have all recently announced that they will meet the target next year.

On terrorism

While NATO officials have long stressed that the organization has been combating terrorism for over a decade -- including by fighting and training local troops in Afghanistan -- the alliance has in recent months taken on an even bigger role in counterterrorism.

Trump doesn't deserve all the credit but NATO is moving in the direction he repeatedly said they should. This partially explains why he's changed his public statements on NATO.

Who are they polling? Where do the numbers come from?

Then understand this, I don't care about tweets. I don't care about polling numbers.

Polling numbers mean nothing. Look no further than all the polls that said hillary was a lock for president.

In the latest Rasmussen poll Trump's approval rating has climbed to 50%. I guess polls are good now right? :)

No, that's further proof they're useless. If you had massive swings in data like that at a normal job you'd have a lot of explaining to do.

Americans love a good missile strike.

True. But, we like our wars short, tidy and won. If things get drawn out, and our boys start dying, Trump's ratings will plummet. Frankly, I was expecting a bigger spike in approval than what occurred.

At any rate, I think the real test may come this week when/if NK launches another missile test as threatened. I would not be surprised if we attempt to intercept it, and I wholly applaud such an approach.

Then the **** starts to get real.

Honestly, if any good is gonna come of the Trump administration, I think resolving the NK situation may be it. Donald is crazy enough to trump their crazy ass dictator.

Results speak louder than just words.

He must be wanting Ivanka to go out of business with this new "But American, Hire American" executive order. How long before she terminates her contracts with Chinese clothing manufacturers? Does he fire all those on work visas who work at his hotels and golf courses?? This is a do as I say not as I do executive order

1) We will do so much in the first 100 days you won't believe it.

2) We've had the best first 100 days of any President, ever.

3) (four days later, mind you). That 100 day measure is stupid.

He embraced literally every position possible.

What is wrong with him ?
