Would you guys be happy with a recruiting class like this?

I'm going to get blitz for this but I think a class of all Seniors (some four, some 3) backed up by a class of all Juniors (some 4, some 3 stars) beats a team of all 5 and 4 star starters who are sophomores and hardly any juniors or seniors. Just my thoughts. I want talented guys who stick with the program 4 years and know what their team mates are going to do before they even do it.

I think a 3 star with 4 year of playing experience is better than a redshirted 4 star freshman.

what if I told you guys this is a top 10 class?

would you want it more then?

Not really. I know it's relevant, but would still assume we could do better.

That being said, I know stars don't always tell the story and would much prefer kids with 3-4*'s that feel like they need to prove themselves by working hard as opposed to the big name 5*'s that think otherwise.

If it turns out to be a top ten class, then I'd be ecstatic. Curious to know possible scenarios under which it would be a top ten class though...

FTR, I'm predicting it'll be around 11th to 13th.

These were the exact numbers for Nick Saban's first class at Alabama.

10th ranked class in the country.

BOOM.

4stars- 10
3stars- 12
2stars- 3

3.28 star avg.

and what number would like for the Vols class to be ranked?

just wanna see where the boards expectations really are.

TIA

I think this would be the best we could hope for this year looking at the fact that we are going after so many lineman on both sides of the ball. I would take it today!! Then improve a little more next year with fast skilled players and more lineman.:dance2::rock::hi:

If we get that class year in and year out and 99.9% are lost after one or two years due to grades or criminal behavior I think our coaching staff will have us playing for the SEC championship on a regular basis. Just my two cents. I don't believe you have to have the top 5 class, just a continual top 10 class that keeps the majority through their Junior year.

I agree with this except I think you made a typo in the first sentence.

I think if you can avg a top 10 team but lower your attrition by 50% or so by getting better students and "character"... you'll have the talent to win championships. NO ONE has actually tested this model.

Interesting. IMO, our class will be borderline Top Ten this year, but pulling one or two five stars would lock us into the Top Ten. Just my two cents.

when you get into 4stars you are competing with them so that point is moot.

I was talking about the 3* players, not the 4*. That's how you determine if he seems to be a good 3* player or not...the offer list is always more important than stars.

Wow UT fans are tougher than UF fans I can't believe it. If I were you, I'd be ecstatic with that class and that's a solid foundation to build on. Just think how Dooley can recruit after kids have actually seen his teams play.

I think if you sign that class consistently with maybe a 5 sprinkled in sometimes, you will be competitive. Especially if you get guys that want to do things the right way and stick with the program. Our recruiting has not gotten us into the jam we are in now; attrition has.

first time poster long time lurker. If we get the OL &DT and db /safties that we are after it will be a solid class.

We need Linebackers too, especially if we are going to the 3-4

Volnation is like having a couple siblings. You are gonna love it sometimes, you are gonna hate it sometimes, but no doubt it will never get boring here.

If you pull that class down by year 4 you have 40 four stars. Basically, all starters and subs are 4 stars at that point and 3rd string is 3 stars. At that point, your team comes down to coaching.

Also, if the above was our actual team right now we'd be playing for the SEC east at worst this year and probably the SEC CG.

This was Alabama's 2007 class. Saban's first full class of entirely his recruits was 2008.

5 stars - 3
4 stars - 19
3 stars - 8
2 stars - 2
