with all that UT has going against us, 99% of people (who follow recruiting) would agree that a top 15 class is a very good achievement.

So? Doesn't mean anything if he can't coach. Right now, the verdict is out on Derek Dooley as a recruiter. He did a good job saving the 10' class. I'm a little underwhelmed right now with the 11' class. We'll see.
Edit: Any one of us could be RC for Nick Saban and pull in a top-10 class also.

... and two years later about 5 of those 3* players are in the two deep as Sophs for a NC team. By my count 4 of the 4* were in the two deep. A slightly greater percentage of the 3* became starters as Sophs.
