Would you recruit Mettenburger...

Absolutely not. We are most probably going to sign Justin Worley. I do not think Mettenburger fits into Derek Dooley's "Brand". Anybody object to this?

He could be a good asset to have. He would definitely have to be put on a short leash though. I'm not sure it would be a bad idea though..

1)It would depend on the severity of the sexual assault. You can grab a boob or nice chunk of booty and be charged with sexual assault.

2)It would also depend on if he showed remorse and tried to make amends

3)Is he worth the trouble. Meaning does his skill set warrant the ridicule Tennessee would get for recruiting/signing a player with a troubled past

Yes, definitely.

He is a legit QB and was right there with Murray as the #1 QB.

He could come in and sit out this year then he would still have 3 years to play 3 since he redshirted last year. Him and Bray would be in the same class.

I thought he looked pretty dang good in the spring game LV. He has nice touch on his deep throws for sure. He looked at least as good as Murray to me.

I may be the last to hear on this...

Mettenberger tells kelinjohnson.com that he’s had heavy interest and calls from other colleges and universities, including the University of Tennessee, USC, Texas A&M, UK, Troy State, Memphis, and Colorado, and that a number of schools have been calling to get the scoop on Mettenberger from Bulldog Offensive Coordinator, and former winning UGA quarterback Mike Bobo.

Depends on the details. But I am not one to rule out giving someone a second chance without having at least met them.

Everyone deserves a second chance, IMO. It just maybe too soon with this guy to say whether or not just being remorseful is good enough at this point. He has no body of work after this to go on. I would probably want at least a year without any other hiccups to give him a chance.

Get him on campus and you can keep a closer eye on him while he sits.

While that maybe true, getting him back on a campus, especially one with the rich party history of UT's, may not be the best medicine he needs. If you are going to cure the patient, you don't keep exposing them to the problems that caused their issues in the first place.

He can get hammered at a party at Vol State.

You could tell pretty early whether or not he's rehabilitated. If not, send his arse packing. If he has, you've got a helluva QB.

I'm just not willing to say yes or no at this point, mainly considering what he just got in trouble for.

Absolutely. We are in no position to turn down a talented QB. You tell him up front he'll have a very short leash, but in our situation, you just can't tell him no if he wants to come.

I put him on a tight leash and keep a close eye on him. With what he got in trouble for he has no wiggle room in my eyes, but with talent like that it's worth a shot.

Get him a nice girlfriend that is smokin' hot and won't put up with any crap. Problem solved.

It better be about a 2 inch leash at this point.

First time he tries to touch a boob, you send him packing.

But you would be able to tell somewhat early whether or not he has learned his lesson. If he's truly "fixed" he would most likely walk a pretty narrow line. Sexual assault will scare many people not named Roethlisberger from being repeat offenders.
