"It's gotten worse". Here's the full context in case you haven't heard it. Too bad the article leaves out the second half of his answer.

Skip to 8:40 of the interview.

It's bad to hold football players accountable when they don't meet the head coaches' expectations? Since when? It isn't recess. It's D1 football for cryin' out loud.

This girl gets it. She's like Butch.

Don't take that the wrong way Volly!

OP, you're right.

Butch Jones should be organizing singing circles of "Kumbaya" and telling all his players they're delicate and unique flowers to boost their self-esteem because nothing ever goes wrong in UTopia and that's the best way to engender a tough mentality that is needed to survive in the SEC.

Or he could talk about shower discipline and 1940s Atlantic Seawall defensive practices.

If he wasn't doing anything to address these inconsistencies, then I would be worried. The previous head coach would have just said that were weren't a very good football team and called it a day. Thank goodness we have Butch Jones.

Thank you, who wants a sissy coach who pats them on their backs. Football is a tough sport and we're in a tough league with a tough schedule. We need tough players.

Nobody gives a flip that U and others don't know who the QB is right now. All that counts is doing what it takes to win ball games. Why should it matter at this point if Jones has determined to make them compete? In a perfect world where one is head and shoulders above the others, it would be different---but that's not the case now. They haven't even put on the pads yet and all we hear is whining from people who don't know sheet from Shinola.

You said it better then I could have.

On another note, If people think we are going to have a lousy season because of a bad practice, these practices being held for very young men, wake up and smell something.

A lot of you wouldn't have made it through basic.....Just because someone says the sky is falling doesn't mean it's true.

Exactly! You're not going to find any good football coach that says he likes what he sees the 1st week of practice.

Got a lotta kangaroos too.

"A roo to do", "A daggy f-tard" - Australians have some great nomers, plus some good beer. Much better than the Canadiens "AY". Not to mention that Molsons is stale squat water compared to Fosters.:)

Shrug it off. We got football coming soon. :hi:

So,,,your the one!! It's all good Volly. Just gets my dander up a bit when our Vols are mentioned as losers. A certain coach may have recruited them, but that doesn't mean these kids don't give their all. :hi:

Did you know kangaroos often put other animals in head locks and drown them in rivers/lakes?

Sure. It's called evolution. Bammer mothers should hold their water and drown their kids before......oh crap...I see where this is going. Mods are already on me tonight,,didn't think you were in on it. I should probably just hit the rack.:)

I think he likes what he sees just trying to pump up the volume. I think Coach Jones thinks he can pull and upset or two with these guys he just needs to get their mental approach right.
.

Yes, because he's used that tactic so many times in his career to help his teams win all those championships.

:good!:

Maybe a slight over reaction by OP, but I have to say I'm beyond tired of the way jones is handling this qb situation. No starter named two years straight until the first game and all he says is how bad they suck if you are honest and listen to him talk without your orange glasses. Then every camp they go to in the offseason every single person besides CBJ says they improved so much...

Agree. This cost you the UF game because Jones had no freakin clue which qb was ready to play. Frankly, the qb situation alone, combined with the total meltdown against UF last year, has had me looking at Jones cautiously ever since.
