Wow I am suprised about all the negative posters here.

So anyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist and anyone who dares to criticize Pearl is an anti-Semite? That's rich, especially considering that my own father is Jewish. I detest Obama, but it's because I also detest socialism, not because of the color of his skin.

Spoken like a very wise man. Those commie nazi marxist socialists are trouble!
Go USA? except the Pres, of course, because I'm a patriot?

Guess the reason I didn't see eye to eye with all that Bush was doing is because he is white.

Who knew?

Whereas the fact that only the usual suspects are on the attack means? bidness as usual on volnation...

You throw out asinine assertions like you have in this thread and expect to be called out.

It's not rocket science.

it's not the criticism, necessarily. it's just the same 5 posters taking every bball thread to the same level of smarmy dislike for Pearl and the pretentious 'you're dumb if you don't get it' chipping in by the goon squad. i don't think the vols are as good as they can be, but maze and goins were the best we could get. welcome to UT basketball. it isn't Pearl's fault. what makes any of you think we wouldn't revert to what we were pre-Pearl if he left, instead of us somehow becoming better than the best we've ever been? in Pearl's 'bad year', we still made the NCAA's.
and for the Fulmer guy, we hired an all-star team to replace him. it is so crazy to think we could pull that off in hoops. who do you guys have in mind for replacements? i'll hang up and start laughing...

I laugh at you if you don't think we could get a hell of a mid-major coach to come here. A mid-major coach would kill for a job like this. And the rebuilding of UT basketball should also mention Mike H., because he put the effort Dickey didn't. And who knew we would get the staff when Fulmer was fired? Nobody knew. Some people would think UT football wasn't that great of a job.

And not all of the blame, but some should for not being able to get a quality PG. That's the coaches responsiblitity.

I have to commend Pearl for taking a huge step with this program. He, with some long needed backing from the administration, has made this a place where we can now fully expect to hire a quality basketball coach. I'm not advocating that we replace the current coach, but I don't buy the lame ass argument that we can't hire someone.

Our difficulty in our past in hiring was idiots like Dickey viewing basketball as a second rate sport.

1) if you were wise, then you would realize nazi's hate socialism more than we do. nice going.

2) he feels that Obama is leadin the nation towards socialism. There was nothing about race in that he didn't detest Obama. There ya go.

Exactly. Pearl deserves respect for the rebulding job. But Hamiliton deserves a lot of it too. He made UT basketball a priority.

And if Pearl leaves/is fired (not saying he should), we can easily hire a capable coach to replace him. I'm sure if Hat doesn't mind, he can name 5-7 mid-major guys to take over and do fine.

It would be extremely difficult for Hamilton to be able to justify firing Pearl unless everything comes completely unraveled or if he does something to embarrass the university. He'll have a tough time, potentially, next year losing everyone. But, that will also be expected so he'll definitely get a pass.

And, regardless if you like Pearl or not, he is very consistent. He has made us very good - granted not great. It is hard firing someone in College Basketball that is consistently in the tournament who also wins 20+ games a year. Again, if this was Kentucky, maybe. At UT, it would be tough.

Nobody is saying we should fire pearl. He shouldn't be ired. He deserves a few years to take us to the next level. I'm saying this: If he has been here for 8-10 years, and he hasn't made a final four, we have to take a look at some1 else to take us to a final four, and I feel a lot of people will agree with me.

Nobody is asking that the man be fired. Sometimes the play on the floor drives me bananas, but I want the guy here as long as he continues to recruit well and keep us relevant. He has absolutely earned whatever time he wants to spend here. Hamilton would look utterly idiotic in asking Pearl to leave and would wipe out any cache Pearl has built.

That said, I don't expect it to get better, though I'm hopeful.

All right, i guess I will pull a LG for the day. I've drawn out a GOPbot and hopefully hat has me on ignore, so I'll call this a success. Once again, for the thicker ones, I'm not calling anyone a bigot, I'm just saying that the CBP hate is so confusing that it seems like there should be some other motivation for it besides his performance as a coach. Of course I know none of you personally, but being from TN, understanding some of the small minds there, I don't think my stretch was that crazy. Offensive, sure, but it wouldn't offend you if it was completely off base.
I defend TN when people here ask. I love TN. I know there are tons of liberal-minded (not politically liberal, calm down) people in Knox, Nash, and everywhere. I also know what UT's bball had always been, and how that has changed in a short 4 years to the point where we are a contender every year now. More talent coming in, so no reason that should change, unless we got rid of CBP. I think reverting to the Jerry Green days is much more likely than becoming UNC if Pearl were to leave. Who wouldn't? Being out of TN, I probably appreciate what CBP has done more than you regional fans. CBP is the man. When his system works, it is exciting to watch and play. Following the Vols used to be impossible, now I get many games on basic cable. That is why Tobias signed. CBP is building something where there was nothing. If you can't get that, I've got nothing else for you.

You act as if NYC isn't littered with bigots, idiots, malcontents and anything else. Please.

you really want to pretend this is wise or that you're somehow enlightened?

You really want to pretend these fools know what socialism is? *cough* *homeland security* *cough*
The fact that somebody can bash Obama and all of you usual suspects jump to his defense says all I needed to know about you, old school.

Now, had you said that, instead of saying anyone who doesn't support pearl is a racist, it would have made more sense and would have earned more respect.

What? Because you don't like Obama's policies means you are old-schooled. That's dumb. I'm freakin 16, and I don't like what Obama is doing. What's wrong with that?

You should know that respect from those you don't respect is pretty meaningless.

There are small minded people everywhere.

Even when you attempt to make a point, you fail.

Do you not like it or does your daddy not like it? And I get banned for saying you guys are barely removed from middle school...

I didn't jump to anyone's defense. I just pointed out the irony in your ridiculous comment. As an aside, since when has the common defense not been a socialist concept? and then when did socializing GM become a capitalist concept?

You know nothing about me, especially if you're silly enough to call me old school. Then again, why would absolute and utter ignorance surprise me from someone proclaiming his NYC address as the equivalent to enlightenment?

I'm 16. I'm my own person. I actually defended Obama to my parents on some of his policies. Ripped by my own classmates for saying that some of his policies we're okay. I have my opinions. I don't care what my dad thinks, I have my own opinions.
