Much more so than our other coaches. He promotes UT athletics beautifully. I wouldn't even go to a game in body paint. Does anyone feel like CLK wouldn't leave for USC if it was offered? I doubt Pearl would go anywhere, because he appreciates what UT has done for him.

1. I live in East Tennessee. There is not anti-semtism in Tennessee, at least when it comes to the basketball coach. This is a ridiculous point. I respect other arguments you bring about why people think Pearl should be revered, but saying that people don't like him b/c he is a Jew is stupid.

2. Yet, last year, with the most talented team in UT history, and WITH HIS players, he had his worst season. Interesting. And Coach K had three national titles. He can say that the future is bright with his program because of his track-record.

3. CBP had a hell of a year his first year. It was great. But you can't compare football to basketball in terms of your first year. In basketball, you don't have to have the players like in football. You can win in basketball easier than in football with less talented players. And Pearl did awesome with that group, incredible. And that team wasn't that terrible. There was still talent.

4. Because last year, with his players, the guys he recruited, he had a bad year. We are basing past weaknesses that have not been fixed in five years. That's why we don't think he will take us to the next level.

5. Tell me why not loving Pearl is the sign I'm not a REAL VOL FAN. Don't question my love for the Vols. Ever. Seriously. I think it shows my love for the Vols that I want better for them in every sport. I would watch UT play kickball against elementary kids if it was on TV. You don't have facts, so you question my love as a fan. Nice.

Especially not you question my love for the Vols. Seriously, because I thought Fulmer should have been fired last year, that means I'm not a REAL VOL FAN? I still support Bruce as the coach. I hope he turns it around. I don't think he will. And if that means I'm not a true Vol fan, then I don't know what a fan is.

How many SEC tourney championships does Pearl have? Fulmer won three SEC east title in seven years, and nobody cared. Nobody cares about SEC East championships.

So anyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist and anyone who dares to criticize Pearl is an anti-Semite? That's rich, especially considering that my own father is Jewish. I detest Obama, but it's because I also detest socialism, not because of the color of his skin.

I take a little bit of pride in this thread because I think it was my dedication that helped it along (and most of you all too of course - you get my point).

On that note, I was also attempting to show my perspective like NYC is. And, I'd like to support him but just can't. Sorry man, some of the stuff you've written is just a little too far out there for me. I like Pearl and think he is doing a great job leading in the right direction (albeit there is still much room to improve) but I can't jump on your OrangeNYC train......

it's not the criticism, necessarily. it's just the same 5 posters taking every bball thread to the same level of smarmy dislike for Pearl and the pretentious 'you're dumb if you don't get it' chipping in by the goon squad. i don't think the vols are as good as they can be, but maze and goins were the best we could get. welcome to UT basketball. it isn't Pearl's fault. what makes any of you think we wouldn't revert to what we were pre-Pearl if he left, instead of us somehow becoming better than the best we've ever been? in Pearl's 'bad year', we still made the NCAA's.
and for the Fulmer guy, we hired an all-star team to replace him. it is so crazy to think we could pull that off in hoops. who do you guys have in mind for replacements? i'll hang up and start laughing...
