Wow!!shocked

I could see her really liking USC. Dawn is a great coach and she has a lot of talent on the team. Not too sure about UGA, they are having a tough streak right now, but it is close to home for her. Just have to wait and see.

Hope the young lady gets situated in a place where she can be happy and successful...and benefit her chosen team.

I agree; Andy's best days seem to be behind him, their basketball facilities are mid-major, at best, and their fan support for their basketball teams is weak.

USCe fans really don't have much room to talk when it comes to supporting a basketball program. Pretty sure you all rank quite low in attendance when it comes to supporting your mens/womens basketball teams.

Those numbers may not be indicative of the future though. I think the USC women will be bringing the fans in whether DD attends or not. Everyone is getting excited about the future of USC WBB, and they have good reason to be excited. USC is on the up; can't say that for UGA.

Did you not notice that Mia was not on the team or even listed on the roster all last season? wasn't she supposed to have come in with Coates?

This was on the USC fan site: "...B. USC had her sister Mia Cooper, but she didn't make the grades. Don't know how Te'a feels about that..."
Don't know if that means literal grades or figurative grades, or any idea of Mia's status. It seems like two sisters would want to be together (Stanford, Louisville) so that should give USC a step up. Of course if Mia is not there or not playing...

Her sister is not and will not be playing for USCe. Te'a has been a heavy TENN lean for a long time.

In 2013-14, USC WBB moved up to 13th in attendance averaging 6,371 fans. NCAA® National Rankings
Down the stretch crowds of 7,000+ fans were the norm closing out the season with crowds of 10,500 and 12,500 for the last 2 games of the home schedule. Dawn Staley is doing a tremendous job of building a passionate fan base for women's basketball in Columbia and I wouldn't be surprised if we average at least in the 8,000s next season.

I was curious whatever happened to Mia so I skimmed through her and Te'a's twitter a few months ago. Turns out Mia is in school somewhere but she's no longer playing basketball.

I only asked because from the looks of it i don't think the poster payed full attention to their team to see that Mia was never there to begin with but VOLMEB and JDURO have answered the questions concerning her.

I heard from 2 very good sources last night that Diamond's visit went very well. I didn't get specifics.

In 2013-14, USC was 10th in the country in average WBB attendance at 6371. That was 3rd in the SEC, just behind Kentucky. Georgia was 30th at 3,259.

In 2013-14, USC MBB was 41st in average attendance at 10,074. We were 6th in the SEC. Considering we haven't been to the NCAA Tournament in 10 years, that isn't that bad. Georgia was 84th at 6,140 despite having a much better record.

How does USC even have room, they have 10 returning players and 5 signees

As stated above, USC's total roster this past season of 12 players consisted of 1 senior and 2 walk-ons, meaning a total of 11 - 9 scholarship + walk-ons - return for next season.

USC was well prepared to bring in a 2014 class of 6, with top-10 rated 5* Shakayla Thomas having USC very high on her list as a finalist. As it ended up, Thomas chose to go to FSU, leaving that lone available scholarship for next season....

I am not saying Lady Vols should be worried or anything. But I think there is an outside chance that Diamond decides she wants to play for Dawn Staley and convinces Cooper to come with her. T'ea's sister committed to Dawn just last year. There is a relationship there. I'm not saying it happens, but it wouldn't be that much of shocker. We have room for one more next year, if she waits for Te'a's class we'll have 4 spots available with 3 players graduating.

There is absolutely nothing untrue about what he posted above....

why is someone always talking about south carolina on these threads--a program that hasn't won anything, ever, in women's basketball. maybe let's stop the gamecock chatter?

Armchair, they are now a strong team looking to get stronger. If they keep signing NC talent their future is bright. Which means we now have another team contesting for the NC and it is in the SEC. Which is great for the SEC and our SOS, but not so great when we have to play them two or three times a year. So USC has now become relevant to UT. At least that's the primary reason I'm interested. Secondary is I love SC (just not as much as TN:yes:). GLV!

The USCe visit should not come as a surprise to anyone. I told you all a few weeks back that she was planning on visiting several schools. TENN and USCe won't be the only two that get visits.

Do you have an opinion, where she'll wind up?
