Wright's comments...

Keep dreaming on my GOP friends it will be a D in the white house unless you all come up with something much bigger than anything wright has ever said or done.
NO party has ever held the white house when a recession took place in the election cycle there is too much the gop is up against.
This election cycle the dumbed down electorate will work for the dems the way it did for the gop in 04and 00 cause the economy and $4.00 a gal gas mean so much more to people.
I know you don't want too hear it but facts are facts.

Yeah, Pelosi did a good job on that gas issue didn't she?

When was the last time you had your vision checked? Maybe you should go back and read the first 5 lines again and then come back to me.:good!:

let's see here.....gas prices, recession, wrights comments wont lose the election. so, what does that have to do with what he said?

I read the first 5 lines and they have absolutely nothing to do with Rev. Wright and his ridiculous viewpoint. None at all.

It looked like the wishful thinking of an uneducated Democrat.

I mentioned reverend wright before anything else you all seem too ignore that. I also have HISTORICAL PRECEDENTS in my statements please show me a party that has held th white house when a recession has happened during the election cycle. Now who is wishfully thinking.

And to volinbham and all the other McCain supporters, this IS an issue.

Anything is an issue if people pay attention to it. I don't think it's the right time to be using it in campaign ads. There is enough coverage of the issue without using guilt by association ads.

you are absolutely in la la land if you believe your passing reference to Wright had anything at all to do with the topic.

I don't give a rat's arse whether you stay on topic, but to argue that you were is just silly.

You're not going to like the 3rd and 4th quarters of '08 if you're rooting for recession.

because you are finding it difficult to understand the 3rd grade logic that we are espousing, allow me to direct you to a google search of the word "red herring" and suggest that your post would be a fine example. This is generally taught in any freshman english class and is easily recognized; however, seeing that you are from georgia and probably have an education equal to my pet beagle....i'll let it pass. (google "ad hominum" for that one...)

The 4th qtr won't matter and I'm not rooting for a recession but I'm a realist nothing at all points to a gop victory right now and I do consider my mentioning of wright as counting. You

Why not? Didn't it cost Trent Lott? It's politics, and McCain seems to pick and choose what he doesn't think is right. If you're running against someone who supports Obama, this is fair game. It's just another in a long line of snubs to the R's by McCain.

Nice personal attack people on this board usually do that when that is all they have now I'll ask again show me a precedent in modern politics that may show a gop victory in a bad economy.

this pathetic response makes the parenthetical "ad hominem" funny as hell.

um, that was kindof the point of my little joke. You used a logical fallacy that we all caught, I did the same to you.....we don't care about the bad economy argument your making (besides the point that the economy isn't going to be bad by the time the vote rolls around), your missing the fact that your original post had nothing to do with the topic and you keep arguing that it did.

it's still funny as hell.

What's modern? You mean like when FDR was elected 3 subsequent times?

I'm pretty sure he already said that he didn't think that it would be a bad economy around election time....which kindof makes this point moot doesn't it?

You are really not that slow are you? Do you really think people will forget that quickly if the economy does pick back up in time?
I believe it won't be all that great by election time.I think I'll go with what this guy has to say about it before any of you.

Voters are pretty quick to react to things. See: Dean, Howard for a good case study. Also, while I will wholeheartedly agree that warren buffett knows more about the economy than I, there are a number of indicators that have been pointing to the economy moving towards a stronger position. But hey, believe whatever makes you feel good.

Typical Dem. Glass is empty.

I could never vote for a person who hates me (whitey) and wants to tax me more. Sorry, that's my argument.. start to finish.

I think Trent Lott got screwed - why would I advocate the behavior that resulted in that?

The people that seem to care about Rev. Wright aren't voting Obama anyway. It's beating a dead horse. It's clear you wouldn't vote for Obama with or without Rev. Wright so why should it be part of a campaign?

To win, McCain needs independents - I'm guessing they'd rather see policy differences than ads like the guilt by association approach. Obama's popularity is his claim to be above such campaigning. McCain will not gain their support if he doesn't take a similar approach.

The bad news for the gop is I do not see independents breaking much better for McCain than they did for the gop in 06 which I believe went 65-70% dem. I could be wrong.
