Some of his best games statistically were on the road: Idaho (48.6) and UNLV (47.5). Idaho, however, plays in a domed facility, so we are talking about a climate-controlled environment. On the other hand, Texas and Fresno State most closely approximate conditions in Neyland and two interesting stats emerge from those games. First of all, if you combine the stats for those two games, you come out with almost exactly a 40-yd. average (15 for 598 yds.). However, that figure includes shanks of 19 and 20 yards on his first two collegiate efforts, ones launched on the road in a hostile environment. Against the Longhorns, he also nailed two punts over 50 yards, including a 54-yarder, so his last three punts totaled 149 yards (49.67 ave.). Considering how many times we have watched Palardy and Darr unravel following a bad kick or two, that level of composure for a first-game freshman is most impressive.
