XFL 2023

I also cheer for Toronto because your mom grew up there. 😈

Do you all who watch CFL have a favorite team?

I went to Vancouver a few years ago and the day we got there the BC Lions were hosting the Montreal Alouettes. On a whim my wife and I got tickets. Their stadium is pretty nice. The Lions weren't very good that year so there were only about 20-25K there. The stadium is pretty big and the whole upper deck was empty. But it was still a pretty loud crowd and if you closed your eyes you would have thought you were at a typical American football game. The fans around us were very nice and especially interested when we told them were from Nashville. They asked about the Titans and especially the Predators since that was the year the Preds went to the Stanley Cup Finals. It was also close to Sept 11 and the team did a very nice 9/11 Memorial presentation. I ended up buying a few shirts and a hat, and I'm actually wearing one of the shirts right now. If I ever had to move up there I'd definitely get season tickets.

I also sort of root for Toronto, mostly just because the first CFL game I ever saw on TV they were hosting and because of the Toronto Blue Jays I thought the Argonauts were Toronto's NFL team. My dad then had to explain to me what the CFL even was and why they were punting on 3rd down. I enjoyed the Grey Cup they won a few years ago.

I’m still baffled that a team in Montreal folded, I didn’t know that.

The funniest part of it to me is when they returned to Montreal in 1996 they played their games where the Expos used to play. But they had trouble having fans show up. So after a few years they moved to Molson Stadium, which at the time only sat 20K. It ended up causing demand to increase and pretty much made the team a hot ticket.

Interesting story. Did they expand?
I would rather see a team sell out a small venue then 1/2 of a huge stadium that’s full.

I’m liking the XFL
This is how football is meant to be played
