Yahoo! Sports: Saban to Texas (Rumor)

That's ridiculous, you don't have to go back 100 years. You're putting to much on current success. 6 years ago people said Oregon was better a better job than bama because they were losing and Oregon was winning. We all knew bama would return and was a top job. Was bama a top job in the country back then? Yes, but because they were losing people said it wasn't. We are talking overall best places to be. Right now Oregon may be better but when all is even Tennessee is a better job. Better recruiting base, fan support, stadium, NFL players, and tradition. When Oregon goes down we will see how good of a job it is, UT has remained a top destination during the down years. That's what separates the elite programs and Oregon may very well reach that or be there now. Anyway, we are kind of arguing two different points. Right now Oregon may be a better job but overall UT is a top 10 job. The last 6 years don't change that. Wait until we are winning big again and there is no way people will put Oregon and Miami jobs above us. 6 or 7 years ago those lists had us ahead of bama for top coaching destinations.

We agree on these bolded points

Excellent rebuttal, when you cant argue facts, start acting like a child.

:cray:

My most sincere of apologies, I simply do not have the time, or concern to further argue with anyone who truly believes Oregon, in the grand scheme of things, is a top tier landing spot for a coach. I agree Oregon has been winning football games, I agree they have a nice spa and some flashy(trashy) unis. Beyond that, what do they have? Lets be honest, they still are having a hard time convincing kids to come win footballs games with them and get a FREE education. Give me a break.

Do you have problems reading simple text? How many winning seasons do we have in the last decade?? How many does Oregon have? If you think the Tennessee job or program is above Oregon right now, you are just ignorant to reality.

Right now at this moment, no the program is not above Oregon's however long term yes, UT is head and shoulders above Oregon in potential.

Update unless already known..Does this not look like a post from our Gruden Thread?...

McPhaul's comments from The Orange Report on Blog Talk Radio

* We've been talking about this for how long? at least 6 weeks...
* My sources have never deviated away from that (Saban to Texas)
* Sources have been standing firm about our chances
* Heard it is "all but a done deal"
* Originally heard announcement will be on Monday (but most likely will be on Tuesday morning now)
* Everything delayed due to Mack holding off on his announcement, has delayed Saban announcement
* "Dominos are beginning to fall"
* "By this time next week we should be sitting pretty"
* "Will not say 100%" -- "removing that term from his vocabulary"

* regarding Saban's contract: "there's never been another one like it, half public and half private"
* Includes side deal that may not be known to anyone (???)

* "Let's celebrate last year (2013 season) and the last 16 good years Mack has been with us"

* Host: what have we done to keep Mack from meddling?
* "The hiring of Patterson alleviated a lot of that, in addition to the new power brokers"
* "Having the new power brokers in charge (hicks brothers and co) ushers in a new area for the University of Texas"
* Says Saban will have the free will to install a "winning environment"

* Host: about Mack pushing back for more, what was done today to wrap that up?
* a: "There was delay because Mack was strong-arming us"
* "7-10 year contract at $1m per year"
* "Bigger buyout" and a "position comparable to what they gave DKR"
* Included "private money that had already been poneyed up but that didn't happen, so we had to come up with more money"
* "He made out pretty well" (editorial comment - understatement)
* "He went out kicking and screaming"
* "He got his share" and we should "concentrate on something positive going forward"

* "I think once he gets into retirement he will enjoy more life more than he is thinking right now"
* "Last few years have not been kind to Mack ...kind to us...kind to anybody - Mack does not look like he is having fun on the sidelines"
* "Doesn't look like it is fun for him"

* "It's time, and i think everyone would agree"
* "That's all i have on that subject to tell you the truth"

* Host: Comment about HornSports being all in on Saban from the start
* "Hornsports can have the last chuckle on the whole topic" since they were right from the start

What a bunch of hogwash. Replace key words with "Gruden" and "Tennessee" and it is the exact same stuff that was said during the Gruden hysteria.

I think its plausible that Saban would tell his girlfriend , AJ , if he was leaving.

Think again.

I'm not saying Saban is leaving. Its still up in the air, for me. But A coach does not tell one select player that he is leaving, before everyone else knows. Now... Once Mack is gone, if Nick is going to take them job, he make tell AJ before the rest of the team. But he would not tell AJ this early on into the deal...
