Yahoo! Sports: Saban to Texas (Rumor)

Well, if bama gets outbid for Saban (which I don't think will happen due mainly to age), then I expect Stong to be on the short list for uTx or bama for that matter. He didn't want to go to UT because he is waiting for either alma mater FL or a program that didn't require a lot of rebuilding.

I don't think either uTx or bama are ready to chance James Franklin just yet.

Maybe bama will hire salvanilla as their HC!!!!

Is that like how TN was going to wait a week or two between Dooley's firing and the Gruden announcement even through the deal was done back around the SC game?

Did you ever hear any legit national media guys say that UT had a shot with gruden like they are saying with Texas/Saban?

It NEVER picked up the steam that Saban to texas has right now.

Who is this "legit national media guys" saying Saban is definitely going? The TCU reporter? Most are acknowledging Texas makes a run at him just as they did that TN would make a run a Gruden.

I'm not saying it's out of the realm of possibility they get him. But usually internet rumors turn out to be just that, rumors.

But I thought Saben said he would never leave Alabama. And when Saben says he is staying why would anyone doubt him. In situations like this he has always been a man of his word. Oh and Gruden is circling in the plane again.

:eek:lol:

Would prefer him to stay at Bama. To be the best you gotta beat the best. I think that he has 2 reasons to leave though. He could be the first to have 3 NCs at 3 different schools and the other Bama school is on his heals and he feels it. AU is going to push the Tide very hard ownership of the state.

I could see it happening, but it's not a no brainer for him. The money is good at Alabama, could probably be better if they're forced to give him a raise, but the money would likely be better at Texas to lure him away. The main reason I think he would do it, if he does, is psychological. He has no were to go at Alabama but down. He's peaked and will do nothing but disappoint from this point forward. It's the opposite if he goes to Texas. They're down and he can and will bring them back. They take it seriously in Texas and it's great for recruiting.....Part of being a great coach is knowing which job to take.

I'm in Houston n as of yesterday they didn't have a clue n were throwing names out like sweater vest boy..petrino...myers..etc.

Said saban 1 but thought Texas job was to big for 98% of current hc..

Some schools want championships n other schools just want the best staff n america.. Unreal the diff expectations in the three schools.

Exactly what I'm thinking as well. I mean Alabama has won back to back National Titles and is currently 11-1 with a spot in the Sugar Bowl. Every other school in the country would give their left nut to have that kind of success. How did the redneck Bama fans respond? By going ape**** and sending death threats to players. I can just imagine their response if, god forbid, they don't win 10 games or make the playoffs.

Yep... And Gruden's wife was seen looking at schools for the kids. It was all over twitter.

I've seen reports that Texas has offered him 10 mill/year plus 1% from longhorn network. Whether there is any truth to it however, I don't know. I'll say this, that's a smart offer if true. That's one thing Bama can't match. A percentage of the longhorn network. That would be a nice bonus each year.

That's almost as sweet as Gruden's percentage of the Browns.

What has Paul Bryant Jr's plane been doing in Austin since dec 9th?

No clue. What was it doing going back and forth to Germany the past 2 weeks?

Regardless, Saban was hopping between Indiana and Northern Ohio yesterday on recruiting visits. And he didn't take Junior's plane.

Are you thinking that Paul Bryant, Jr let Saban borrow his plane to go talk to the Longhorns?
