Yahoo! Sports: Saban to Texas (Rumor)

Any tweets from legit people in the media about it? If so can you link me to that?

It's really not worth searching.

I don't doubt Texas makes a run at Saban and may have already reached out via his agent. Coaching is like a fraternity though and guys like Saban aren't going to go house shopping before the incumbent is fired.

No clue. What was it doing going back and forth to Germany the past 2 weeks?

Regardless, Saban was hopping between Indiana and Northern Ohio yesterday on recruiting visits. And he didn't take Junior's plane.

Are you thinking that Paul Bryant, Jr let Saban borrow his plane to go talk to the Longhorns?

I have no idea I'm just asking question. Saban is probably using Sexton's plane if the truth was known.

FWIW, you may recall there was an article by a well respected journalist in Chattanooga that said Gruden had a contract in hand the day before CBJ was hired.

So excuse me if I don't take a tweet from some woman at the ABJ seriously.

Stephen Hargis.

But in the last 24 hours, we've had Rich Eisen, Bobby Burton from 247, Shannon Terry who owns 247 and footballscoop all say Saban to Texas is very legit.

Just because you're still hurt over Gruden or whatever doesn't mean other huge coaching changes can't happen.

My thought exactly.

Yep. Get Saban out of the way so they can go get Gruden

To be honest I think there was more going on with that situation than most of us would like to believe. For one why in the world did Vic Grider quit his job? You would like to think he thought he had a sure thing lined up. I am sure there was too much red tape that JG wasn't going to put up with.

1) I was not a Grudenite

2) I'm not saying there is nothing there or it won't happen (I don't THINK it will).

Rumors that it's a done deal and he is shopping for houses are overblown, though.

I want him to go if for no other reason than than to see the Bama melt down.

I think the Grider thing was a coincidence. I love conspiracy theories, so the OG's were fun to follow. But that's off topic.

Saban is not saying anything right now and the national media is saying that he has an extension sitting on his desk that he won't acknowledge. I'd say THIS MAY be more than a conspiracy.

If Saban leaves, that class will more than likely implode. Not sure if recruits want to play in the B12. It's going to definitely shake up some classes.

Oh Gruden will be the coach for the Vols! This is all part of the master plan. Just wait and see. Don't buy into the smokescreens. It is going to happen.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Bama go into a tailspin, but I don't believe Saban is leaving. (I would love to be wrong though!)

I've seen reports that Texas has offered him 10 mill/year plus 1% from longhorn network. Whether there is any truth to it however, I don't know. I'll say this, that's a smart offer if true. That's one thing Bama can't match. A percentage of the longhorn network. That would be a nice bonus each year.

Clay Travis reported that a 1% equity stake in the Longhorn Network is worth $150,000 ... and it's like a stock, so there wouldn't be a "bonus" - it's just worth $150,000 at this point - but it could grow.

To me, that part of the offer makes it seem more like a rumor. Longhorns stroking their ego.

Do you think Saban actually needed to jump on Paul Bryant Jr's plane to talk to the Longhorns? Here in 2013, there's all kinds of amazing ways for people to communicate.

No doubt this Texas thing is a major reason he hasn't signed a contract. He is probably holding out until Mack is let go so Texas can make their official offer. Then he will go back to the negotiation table with Bama. Whether he leaves or not is still up in the air.

I just don't think he WANTS to change jobs at this stage on his career but he will definitely use it as leverage to get a huge raise. Then again Texas could make an offer he can't refuse and he takes it.
