Yahoo! Sports: Saban to Texas (Rumor)

No clue. What was it doing going back and forth to Germany the past 2 weeks?

Regardless, Saban was hopping between Indiana and Northern Ohio yesterday on recruiting visits. And he didn't take Junior's plane.

Are you thinking that Paul Bryant, Jr let Saban borrow his plane to go talk to the Longhorns?QUOTE]

Do you think Saban actually needed to jump on Paul Bryant Jr's plane to talk to the Longhorns? Here in 2013, there's all kinds of amazing ways for people to communicate.
He's referring to PB jr's plane allegedly flying from Tuscaloosa to Austin. It may have, but I'm with bamawriter on this, no way Saban used it to conduct talks with Texas.

To be honest I think there was more going on with that situation than most of us would like to believe. For one why in the world did Vic Grider quit his job? You would like to think he thought he had a sure thing lined up. I am sure there was too much red tape that JG wasn't going to put up with.

Much like saban Grider has nothing more to accomplish at South Pittsburg, he will be the HC at Coahulla Creek HS , a new 3A school in whitfield co ga. He went for the $$$.

if he went to texas bama would be fine.just look at lsu after he left there.lsu has kept it rolling and they have been in the national title conversation for the most part.bama fans shouldn't lose sleep over it.

Yeah, I wouldn't lose much sleep over losing the best coach in college football. NBD.

God help the coach that would take over after Saban if this Texas thing happens. Expectations would be off the charts.

There are always risks when you replace a successful coach. IMO, Smart would be the guy to beat for the job... however the "Saban coach tree" has dropped some pretty sour fruit (Dooley, Muschamp for example).

No one is Saban. He is one of those leaders who is successful because of what he uniquely brings to a team. You see that in business all the time. When that "guy" leaves... things decline. Managers who work for that "guy" seldom take their success elsewhere and grow.

In typical Tidefans.com fashion, posters are not allowed to discuss this rumor.

lulz

Its like some weird dictatorship over there where you are punished if you don't tote the party line as told.

What a total crap and uninteresting site.

The only reason I would not mind seeing Saban bolt. Those Bama inbreds think they invented the game of Football and to see him bolt for Texas will shatter those egos that those fans carry around. Usually a coach only leaves Bama if he is fired but to see Saban walk away on his terms would be priceless.

I want to see them suffer. Wander in the wilderness for a decade. See them take annual beatings from the Vols and Auburn. See them bottom feed with Mississippi State.

Glad we have this guy posting in here to remind us of every similar thing this has to Gruden. Without you we may have excessive fun or witty banter in excessive amounts. Thank you for keeping a tight lid on it.

Colin Cowherd tweeting his great source says Saban has both offers in hand and deciding.

@ESPN_Colin: Was told by a great source (hopefully most are) Saban is still deciding at this hour. Weighing both sides carefully.

It's coming out now that Mack is saying he wont resign. So if Texas wants a new coach, they will have to fire him. That being said, you dont quit a job unless you have one lined up, Likewise you dont fire a coach unless you :think you: have one lined up.

If Texas fires Mack, they have a good feeling they will land a coach they want. But if not Saban, then who? Who else would they be looking at? Who else is worth firing Mack, over?

We will see if Mack indeed gets fired. I somehow doubt Texas makes a coaching change this year, not enough available talent to justify.

We will know it is getting serious when NATO & Red Cross trucks start pulling into Alabama.

?? Coming out where? From him? Yes, he has been denying that he's stepping down. That's nothing new

Also, seldom do coaching changes happen with someone waiting in the wings. There's almost always a search.
