Yeah, the days of abusing the Bible to justify violence are long gone

BTW, before people start throwing out denominations again, just know that I don't believe in them the way the world portrays them.

Blame the world, the perverted, dangerous world.

Why else would their be so many other denominations and bibles?

The world has perverted the other denominations and religions, and you follow the right one.

Makes so much sense now.

Catholicism is a state sponsored religion, Biblical Christianity is not. Big difference. Catholicism started when Constantine made it the state religion of Roman Empire because of the persecutions of the Christian's, and the fact that the sculptors were losing so much money on their pagan statues. There are many fundamental differences in Catholicism and Biblical Christianity.

Of course there is differences, coincidentally Catholicism came first.

Yet it is no longer labeled as Christianity.

How comical.

Catholicism DID NOT come first, WOW!!!! It was formed AFTER Christianity was recognized as the official religion of the Roman Empire in 313 AD.

Oh my bad.

I must have my Martin Luther history mixed up.

Thanks for clarifying, Jerry.

No matter when one defines when the Catholic (which only means "universal") church started, the only shows in town worshipping Jesus were Catholics and Eastern Orthodox (and even they were one and the same for awhile) for well over 1000 years. And if you say Catholicism isn't Christianity, it'd be hard to consider Eastern Orthodox Christianity.

It's not, plain and simple. Spin it anyway you like, but Biblically, they are two different religions, especially with Catholicism being a state sponsored religion.

Oh, and BTW, what do you follow, since your quick to point the finger at me for claiming that "I follow the right one"?? Singular denominations that claim doctrinal superiority are what is dividing the church this day and age. I believe simply, that we all have a path to walk, and whether it gets us to where we are going is up to us and our own decisions. Now, I am a member of a Baptist Church, but I don't claim to be a Baptist, it's just where I go to worship and learn. It's up to me to make sure what they teach me is right, not accept it as concrete fact. That's where people get in trouble.

So Christianity didn't exist for over a thousand years, and then suddenly started up again?

Actually, I bet you don't count the Anglican Church either, then. So Luther brought back a religion that had been extinct for 1200 years?

Wow. I guess it takes even more faith than I thought. So Islam is an older religion... Interesting.

You can't BUY that kind of irony.

What are you talking about?? Christianity existed for over 600 years before Islam ever thought about being. You also keep pointing out sectors of Christianity, and not the Biblical Christianity I am speaking about. Are you a Christian yourself, or are you just someone who has heard some theology and you think that makes you somewhat qualified to carry on a conversation about something that's faith-based in the first place??

you hit the nail on the head.

I have been talking about Biblical Christianity the whole time, and all people have fired back with is talking about different groups etc, not what the Bible actually says

People who are possible Atheists, who are trying to educate me about my faith, is just pure gold.

so is assuming that those who choose not to believe have always felt that way.

Who is assuming what PJ?? I've asked twice, and haven't got a response, but yet people are quick to try and jot something down they heard in a theology class like it's somehow relevant to the conversation, but yet it's far from what I am even discussing. I'm still waiting for an answer.

I, personally, do not care what other people's belief are. However is what bothers me is when someone acts like they enlightened because they believe a certain way and anyone that doesnt believe that is foolish.

I agree, and never once have I denounced anyone's beliefs, other than to call Catholicism and Biblical Christianity fundamentally different and not the same religion.

you are with pretty much every post.

you mean you don't care as long as they're Christian.

I've never went to a theology class, and to group me in there with some people who have went to college is pretty silly PJ. I've gotten all my information from research and reading, not some theory based college classes. I'm still waiting on knowing whether or not those who have chosen to participate in the conversation are even Christians.

who is claiming their info came from a college class except for you? And my post above still stands, you don't have to currently identify yourself as a Christian to have a conversation about it
