Yemi Makanjoula commits to Tennessee

I'm not sold on this kid being better than either of those players... At least not for a couple years. He is nothing more than someone who can hopefully come in and get 3-5 rebounds and a block in very limited foul-trouble induced minutes.

I just don't see what Woolridge and Maymon have done to make Tennessee any better.

If we're going to be using scholarships on kids like this, we might as well self impose scholly reductions.

With limited video on him, how can you tell he is a waste of a scholarship? I think we needed a big, even if he just block shots and rebounds. Dirty work kind of guy. Rodman did that quite well!

Tennessee without Bruce=back to the old days

I liked Bruce as much as anyone, but come on. Green won here, he just had a bad attitude and so no one liked him. I'm not saying Martin is or is not going to win, I am saying give him a chance. What kind of talent did VCU have? I am going to go on a limb and say they were under the radar type guys. I know he will have to get better talent after this year, but he does not have much to choose from this late in the game and can not afford virtually no bench imo.

I know Coach Martin knows a lot more about this kid than I do, but I don't like the decision to offer him. Makanjuola may be the rawest prospect we've signed in many years; I doubt if we've ever signed a guy who didn't start for his HS team.

I've turned over a lot of stones looking for info on him, and he barely made a ripple as a senior at Oak Hill.

At Word of God this past season, Makanjuola reportedly averaged 6.7 rebounds per game according to these stats. His name is not listed among Word of God's top 5 scorers and their No. 5 scorer averaged just 5.5 points per game. I clicked on the "Details" of each game in Word of God's schedule, and by my count Makanjuola scored a total of 112 points in the 20 games for which individual scoring was reported.

I'd love to see him make me eat my words, but I really can't see this guy contributing anytime soon. Maybe he can help out some w/ rebounding, which we'll sorely need next year, but offensively...

Pic of Makanjuola from one year ago (at Oak Hill); he's 2nd from the right.

Yeah, because Pearl had us so well positioned for a big spring signing period.

we had two guys on board and likely had a big man coming. Wouldn't have lost Scotty and would have had a good chance at keeping Tobias.

You can say that his firing helped get us into this position, but not his recruiting.
