Yemi Makanjoula commits to Tennessee

we had two guys on board and likely had a big man coming. Wouldn't have lost Scotty and would have had a good chance at keeping Tobias.

You can say that his firing helped get us into this position, but not his recruiting.
Hopson wasn't coming back to school if UT made Larry Marshall the coach. Tobias Harris and his family aren't ignorant hilljacks. They weren't going to trade first round money for
the glory of Ol' UT.

Ware sucks and unless Pearl was going to use Ramar's "transcript" again, Jones was never going to be eligible.

Hahaha, Hopson hadn't been to classes in a while. Try again.

I must have missed all your threads last summer, fall, and winter about how much Ware sucked, how incompetent Jones is, and the insider info you had that Scotty and Tobias weren't coming back even though Scotty said he was staying if CBP was still coaching and Tobias and his father both said staying two years was the plan.

I know Coach Martin knows a lot more about this kid than I do, but I don't like the decision to offer him. Makanjuola may be the rawest prospect we've signed in many years; I doubt if we've ever signed a guy who didn't start for his HS team.

I've turned over a lot of stones looking for info on him, and he barely made a ripple as a senior at Oak Hill.

At Word of God this past season, Makanjuola reportedly averaged 6.7 rebounds per game according to these stats. His name is not listed among Word of God's top 5 scorers and their No. 5 scorer averaged just 5.5 points per game. I clicked on the "Details" of each game in Word of God's schedule, and by my count Makanjuola scored a total of 112 points in the 20 games for which individual scoring was reported.

I'd love to see him make me eat my words, but I really can't see this guy contributing anytime soon. Maybe he can help out some w/ rebounding, which we'll sorely need next year, but offensively...

Pic of Makanjuola from one year ago (at Oak Hill); he's 2nd from the right.

he's a project, of course....who the hell you think is LEFT now...????....give CCM a friggin break....you idiots ever coach or teach..??..of course not. Let the guy get some players and give him a chance....geez....are you ppl children..?...if so, get off daddy's PC and go outside and play, dammit.

The fact that you (hat) and BPV are claiming Pearl didn't recruit when two of his guys are leaving early for the draft is really all the evidence I need to show that you are wrong.

I said Ware was wildly overrated from day one. I said all along that Jones would struggle to qualify.

If you think Hopson, who hasn't been to class since February and has had Larry Marshall interviewing agents since before the season started, was ever coming back, I can't help you.

The Harris clan aren't idiots. When at least five guys who would be picked ahead of you stay in school, that's the signal to ditch any plan that doesn't involve being in the draft.

Oh my bad, I missed all these threads and posts.

Looks a lot like revisionist history. I don't know if Ware is wildly overrated (but that alone is a wild improvement over you last post which said he sucked), but everyone here was pretty big on him until he decided to look around.

I don't remember anyone mentioning Jones' grades until the semester started winding down and it was qualifying time.

I don't remember seeing anything about Hopson not attending classes until the season was over and the decision on CBP was final.

I agree about the Harris part.

You obviously miss a great deal around here.

Yeah, it's not like there were multiple threads discussing his Academic American Tour from high school to prep school to diploma mill back to high school.

You're a moron. I hope it's intentional. Trying to separate the NCAA issues fro recruiting is as stupid as possible. Pretending or current predicament is anyone but Pearl's doing is even stupider.

I'm trying to figure out how Hopson deciding he's sick of going to class somehow validates Pearl's recruiting.

Not for you. You claim to have seen Bruce Pearl had integrity and class.

I like CBP, a lot.

Don't remember ever posting personal knowledge of his class and integrity, or any of his personal characteristics outside of his coaching prowess and and being that absolute right guy at the right time for the program.

He messed up, in a small but ignorant way, and has taken responsibility for it and paid a huge price. Certainly is no reason to kick him while he is down as you constantly do.

Just have to move on. Blaming him for our recruiting situation the same way folks blame CFF (which is warranted) for our football talent gap is unfair.

thats not very nice.

Saying that Pearl's recruiting is to blame for the (lack of)talent that is being signed to wear Tennessee uniforms next season is ridiculous.

You can blame the firing or the looming NCAA sanctions, but CBP recruited, and recruited pretty well. The Tennessee teams of the last 5 seasons were pretty dang talented in comparison to the ten years prior. There were good players sprinkled in there before, but CBP found some good players.

I disnt say it was his recruiting. That was his best attribute. The coaching, player development, lying to the AA, being fired for cause and trivial little things like that are the problems.

Dennis Felton brought two guys to UGA who are early entries. He and Pearl have something other than being jobless in common.

your original post called it "Pearl's recruiting mess", which is why I commented to begin with.

If you didn't mean that then don't post it, so that I won't have to correct you.
