Yes, more guns are the answer

He's right. No one drank during Prohibition, so they definitely won't shoot each other with a gun ban.

I can say as a matter of statistical fact that if there were fewer guns there would be fewer opportunities for this to occur.

I know of at least two officers here in Tennessee that were struck by vehicles. I guess we need to start getting rid of those 3000 lb bullets.

Were those the officers struck by that drunk lady when they were laying out spike strips?

People don't break into homes to steal cars so that they may be used as weapons.

Two St Pete officers shot and killed today while trying to serve a warrant. Guy shoots up Detroit police station. Guy shot I think it was three or four deputies last week in Miami. Tuscon shooter.

And on it goes. Good thing, though, that in the event we are invaded by Canada all those guys will be part of their state's militia.

Man defended his home (where he, his wife, and child were) from two burglars at 9 pm. Shot at them and chased them away. Both in custody. Happened last week. Apparently not news worthy, but true.

The answer my friend is less parole/probation and more incarceration.

Less guns = less opportunity for gun violence.

Greater regulation reduces the number of guns in homes and in cars, which is where a large number of the guns stolen by, or sold to, criminals come from.

No amount of tortured logic or manipulated statistics can overcome the simple reality that more guns = more use of guns.

Nope. Wrong again.

Outlawing guns will only ensure the ones that want them to maliciously shoot other people will be the only ones capable of getting them. BPV is right, the shooter and the gun are independent variables. The other flaw in your logic is ignoring the first rule of statistical analysis...correlation doesn't equal causation. No amount of cute one line arguments appealing to the lowest common denominator will refute this.

Reducing the amount of guns only enables a small minority to gain absolute power. Take all of the cars off the road, and you wouldn't have any accidents. However, when someone obtains a vehicle, they now possess authority over you. Whether that be common criminals or the government, is irrelevant. To some, they are two of the same. Nevertheless, the focus should be on mental checks, and an increased difficulty in acquiring weapons, not the elimination of weapons. I also find it ridiculous that any sane individual needs armor-piercing bullets and massive magazines for personal defense or hunting. In a utopia, firearms would not be necessary. Unfortunately, that is a pipe-dream, and criminals will still find ways to commit acts of violence, gun ban or no gun ban.
